The case centers on how the software was developed. Department of Transportation attorney Mike Kernats said the State Patrol - a division of DOT - provided Meredith with a computer to write the software and gave him time off patrol duties so he could do the work.
So he did the work on the "company" computers and on "company" company time? Looks to me like DOT has a pretty decent claim on the output.
Also from TFA:
But Meredith said in court filings that he spent hundreds of hours off duty working on it, developing it almost entirely on his own time. He noted that he never signed a software licensing agreement.
Never, ever, ever work for free. If you don't know how you're going to be compensated or the other details, then don't start.
I use single-bladed Bic disposables myself, which are great except that you have to keep track of how sharp they are and adjust your shaving style accordingly.
I too use just a single bladed Bic for shaving. But the things are cheap enough that I just use one twice and then toss it out. If I can't remember how many times I've used one, I'll toss it. Life is too short to spend time worrying about my razor.
I guess I'm one of them. I put up a MySpace page a few months ago, trying to locate people for planning a 20th high school reunion. I've actually found more of my classmates at MySpace than at any other site on the 'net.
I've been getting flooded the last week or so by politicians calling me up with their messages, and I'm sure it's just going to get worse until November. In 2006 I actually turned my phone off until after the election. It wouldn't bother me too much if they had built themselves an exemption into the laws regarding telemarketing calls, and if there was a real person on the phone that I could speak to about the issues.
I already sit in front of a computer at this place called an "office" for 8,9,10 hours a day. I don't really want to go home and do the same thing for my leisure time. Yeah, I'll pop on and check my email and whatever in the evening, but then I'm done. I want to sit on the couch, put my feet up, and forget about PC's for a little while.
Because you breaking into my house and stealing my shit when I'm not home is completely different from you breaking into my house and trying to steal my shit when I am home. One method sends me to the police station and the insurance office, the other sends someone to the hospital/morgue.
My bitch of an ex-wife took off (stole) my leather bound, gilt-edged copy of the first four books of the increasingly inaccurately named trilogy back in 1991. Hope you're enjoying that Stacie.
I just cancelled my Netflix account after just a little over a month, not including the free trial period. I love the idea, and the convienence was great, but the turn around was too slow. Admittedly, where I live in Northern Oklahoma is a good ways away from the shipping point in Coppell, TX. If I watched a movie on Saturday night, and then got it in the mail on Monday, I wouldn't get a replacement for it in time for the next weekend. Also, on the second batch of movies they sent me "Elf" instead of requested "Napoleon Dynamite". NOT a fair trade.
My sophomore year of high school I took a "computer math" class, the first one that was offered. We were programming in BASIC on Commodore, both the 64's and um, the Pet? Is that right? Then I took a 10 year lull and never touched a computer, but knew I was missing what I should be doing. And look at me now. Still have an old TRS-80 lying around.
Mr. Badnarik, how would you have responded to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center? Would you have perceived the attack as an act of war, or as a criminal act? Please outline your view of the nature of the attack, how you would have handled it and how you might handle future attacks.
If you're in Kansas, swing by the Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield. Not exactly a geek haven, but it would be a nice place to cool your heels for a couple of days. http://www.wvfest.com
If the girl wants and expects a diamond, you better get her one. You *do not* want to hear about it the entire time you're married, and when you get divorced you won't have anything to either hock or haggle over. Sure, it's a bogus tradition, but you prolly got her something for Valentine's day, and I bet you got down on one knee to propose. Sorry dude, I'm with you, but in reality you gotta get the rock.
You're wrong. Not once has the Supreme Court ruled that "people" in the 2nd Ammendment refers to the government. Time and again they have upheld that it has the same meaning as "people" in all other ammendments, especially the 1st, to mean the citizenry, the individual.
You're telling me that search engines get paid to list certain sites higher than others? All these places that have no revenue other than advertisements are doing this and have been all along? Whoooooaaaaaa...I smell a Microsoft conspiracy.
That was the most worthless comment you've ever posted. Which makes _this_ the most worthless comment you've ever read.

Wow. You have _got_ to be fun at a party.

Either way, Windows are still vulnerable.

As if we don't get enough of this on a daily basis already.

I've been going through about one a year as well. I don't buy cartridges anymore, just printers.

They couldn't make simple pin poke cards work. Is anyone surprised that they can't use a more sophisticated system?

What???? No rant about not having it out for Linux? Yet another Microsoft ploy I'm sure.
