I'll just pass on reading your blog and instead ask the moderators why the Hell this article was accepted at all (let alone promoted to front page material).

Because there are way too many wanna-be libertarians on Slashdot? That aside, G.I. Joe always sucked. The fact that pretty much any modern film also sucks, especially when based upon a pre-existing franchise, doesn't really help its case.

But when I need to purchase a vehicle, I look around in the paper for used ones. I find something that sounds appealing and go check it out. My concern is what kind of mechanical condition it is in and what kind of condition it will likely maintain. Obviously you want to take into account the body and if it is rusted or otherwise damaged. But really, for the approximate $500 I usually pay for vehicles, it's a deal if it only last several years. I certainly am not worried about color, stereo equipment, or how many cupholders are strategically placed around me. Vehicles are tools to merely get from one place to another, not a replacement for your living room.

So, take that as you will in comparison to the article's analogy...

There was no racism whatsoever in my post. I refer only to illegal immigrants, who tend to be predominately Mexican. Obviously not all Mexicans are in our country illegally, but the problem demographic for illegals certainly are "spics". It's nothing more than squares and rectangles. Nor did I even come close to saying that European immigrants are superior, only that the traditional image one has of them is someone crossing the ocean to open a deli during the Great Depression. They would not have expected everyone to speak Czechoslovakian or Polish and to cater to them by printing bilingual signs and forms, they learned English! Illegal immigrants do not want to become a part of our society, or else they would not have started out by breaking the law and continuing to do so. Immigration may be a little more expensive than necessary, but it is not all that difficult. I've had several family members immigrant to America with little to no trouble.

Illegal immigrants, of any nationality or ethnicity, are a problem. You can find Food Stamp forms that clearly state, to paraphrase, "Don't be afraid to apply if you resident in the country illegally. We won't tell!". Grander problems with such government assistance aside, statements like that allow agencies to aid and abed criminals at our, the citizenry's, expense! You know why? Because most illegals do not pay taxes at all. They are paid under the table, our through alternative channels. This is the real world, not some jackass's make-believe country of Troll-topia.

Now, what your problem is, I can only guess. I bet I'd be safe to assume however that it has something to do with a certain extent of brainwashing to instantly pounce on anything that may seem outside the realm of political correctness. Furthermore, maybe you're a business owner that doesn't like to pay fair wages. Heck, maybe you're one of those "spics" spreading not-so-clever propaganda through the local library's computer after flashing a fake driver's license. Who knows, and really, who cares? At the very least you're a sad, pathetic little person who would never dare to speak out in real life and must do so on the internet instead so as to avoid anything that might lead to physical confrontation.

    Good day!

  15. Re:All animals are equal on Court Rules Against TorrentSpy In MPAA Email Suit · · Score: 3, Insightful

I wouldn't quite call it hysteria. Illegal immigrants undermine the already pitiful minimum wage we have set up through the country, while avoiding taxes altogether. While taxes don't tend to be used to any great degree of efficiency within our country, these illegal immigrants could theoretically be holding us back from proper socialized health care because of it. Among other things. They have a tendency to use false identification in other fields as well, bypassing the need for automobile insurance and registration, again depriving the country of taxes that (theoretically) go towards road maintenance and even putting other, insurance-paying, drivers at risk. Of course, they are merely the symptom of the larger problem; the American government. These parasites wouldn't exist without their money-hungry enablers, looking for cheap, controllable labor. The people that are here illegally don't care to take the time to become a valuable part of our society, they're not the stereotypical Eastern European immigrants of old who came here with a dream, looking to be part of the American ideology. Hell, most of them don't even want to learn the language (instant red flags) and they certainly don't want to pay taxes, fake I.D. or not. I'd imagine most of them don't even plan on staying long-term and instead just want to make enough money to go back home and do something with... build a taco-stand perhaps?

I remember when those pay sights went up. I had not yet become bored with the original game (anything after Hot Date is lost on me). They're not there to protect the children, they exist solely to make money. The Sims community is pathetic. What you usually get is a simple recolor and a terrible read-me; "hi, i made this. i hope u like it!". The fact that people are trying to sell this shit, and are succeeding, is merely a side effect of how Maxis and EA already run the game. You buy an expansion pack every six months, and the three month periods in-between see the release of a cheaper, completely mediocre "Stuff Pack". Capitalism and pretending to have friends isn't just the goal of the game, it's the goal of the surrounding community. Compare this to a Quake mod, which is made up of a team of motivated hobbyists who sometimes create an entirely different game within the confines of the system and then release it for free!

While I personally haven ever understood the regular use of taxi cabs or credit cards, I can see this being superficially benefiting for those that do. It is to be expected that the employees are watched, especially since taxi drivers are notorious for taking routes that are longer than necessary. Certainly, being able to swipe your credit card at the machine provides a better sense of security than handing it to whomever is up front driving.

What worried me is that those credits cards are now tied to this GPS system. Everywhere you go in these taxi cabs will now be on record if you use your credit card. Like I said, I think the rate at which people regularly use taxi cabs and credit cards is ridiculous anyway. Simply using cash would help people to avoid a whole deluge of privacy concerns, not just the ones from the taxi cabs of tomorrow.

Music definitely has more replay value for just about everyone, I would imagine. Furthermore, films make a lot of their money back at the theaters. DVDs also come packaged with a lot of worthless crap to try to justify the value. Commentary, theatrical trailers, etc. Most mainstream film releases force you to sit through advertisements as well, theoretically making more money for the distributor. The only time I've ever felt as if I'd gotten a deal while purchasing a DVD that wasn't in the bargain bin was when I snagged several seasons of the X-Files in those slim cases. Seven disc sets for $50. There's really no need for any individual film to be over $10.

I pirate music all of the time. Mainly older stuff. I don't think that new music is too expensive however. In the past few years I have purchased three or four brand new albums. All it took was $10 and a trip down to K-Mart (since they don't censor CDs). Of course, these were bands that I really like and have enjoyed for years. These were full albums where each song revolved around a central idea and added to the understanding of said idea. These weren't Top 10 artists that throw out a disc with one manufactured single and fifteen more tracks of even more redundant filler. Maybe I'd feel more ripped off if they had been. Then again, I wouldn't be willing to pay too much more than $10 for a CD regardless. You want to talk about a medium that's completely overpriced? DVDs!
