I could also see a teensy linux web-only boot on a netbook that has windows installed - sometimes you just want to browse the damned web.
Hello! I am typing this message on my Lenovo IdeaPad S10e via the Quick Start(SplashTop Linux). It's not the future, it's the present. I also have an ASUS M/B with ExpressGate "instant on" Linux.
But really, digital readouts are not the same as artistic audio books...
And since there is no fixation, there is no copyright infringement... Otherwise running software would in itself be a copyright infringement
FYI: If you take Mac OS X, Linux misses out really bad. And the point is really about HAL. And HAL is the place where all the tinkering should be done.
I am not bashing X, since it's really the only thing in Linux that stands out as a positive standard API for GUI development.
He is definitely right. But only for any user other than the GUI Desktop user.
I mean if you want more applications of Linux, make GUI and hardware resource access uniform. I mean, that why should you select 10 types of sound systems on a Linux? Each one having it's own API.
And what about notifications and system "tray" and panel? That is the reason you can't reuse GNOME panel applets in KDE and LXDE. Oh and BTW Bluetooth support SUCKS! Because there is no good management application.
It's not the problem with distros, it's having not only a unified base, but also have API as part of standard base.
Till then, it will be easier to write Windows and OS X applications. It's the same reasoning with game development.
Yeah, but they patent holders for 3G are mostly wireless equipment companies, that have little to none interest/investment in smartphones/phones/mobile devices.
IT in India is the same joke as in all other countries, just it's a really, really, bloated joke.
Being a techie, is not something you learn at a later stage in your life, it's something you grow up to be. Most Indian IT workers, just don't "cut it".
Just like one comment to Financial Times European edition newspaper was something along the lines: We should make sure US stays afloat. Make sure that they do not reorganize their education system. And we will have a market where we can dump our quality goods, ensuring that we have a good life. The prosperity of Europe, and a lot of other countries, depends on the undereducated middle class in US.
Hm... Do you really expect that revenue growth will stay the same all the time?
A company that has just got it's first 1'000 USD has made an Infinite% of revenue growth. While then next 1'000'000 USD will only be 100'000% and we all know that 100'000 is less than infinity.
You do understand that your invested money in your own economy tries to contradict you.
You probably have a retirement fund and probably another few funds and maybe you are trading on the stock market. By those actions you are, indirectly, making companies undermine you.
Meaning, that you are forcing them to increase short term revenue and increase revenue using ANY possible solutions. Why? So that those savings or earnings could be translated into you stock/fund portfolio value growth or dividends.
Response from MS: "Ok. We will buy a couple of other countries and see who gets the best of it."
PS: FYI. Software patents in a L-O-O-O-T of places are still not legal. And MS does not seem to have any real issues over it.
Knowing HOW GOOD MSDN Premium IS, I wouldn't have any problems forking out 10'000 USD(~4k yearly extension)
I mean, if you are in real trouble and you need help, you can actually GET the DEVELOPER that created that feature on the phone. And you will get help. I mean, even OSS developers who need help in porting F/OSS software to Vista got such level of service with Premium subscription.
And let us not forget that those 10'000 USD include, basically, ALL MS software licenses. I believe that only Windows is missing from the list.
Well I hate Facebook and Twitter, therefore I will join/create groups/channels called "I hate Facebook"(On facebook) and "I hate Twitter"(On Twiter)
But, then, again, fun != entertainment.

Well you have probably not seen Splashtop and ExpressGate from ASUS.
Not only does it fly, it's also actually WORKS.

HEY! Watch it mister!
We don't use the word pirate here, we share not pirate.
Damn... I meant overestimating, not underestimating.
You are underestimating the buying power of people in the newest EU members: Romania and Bulgaria.
Ok, the first part may be insightful, but what is wrong with OPTIONAL eye candy. Wobbly windows are not even on by default.
You missed one point that MS does when it "bundles" - YOU ARE NOT GIVEN A CHOICE to have or have not!
Ughm....
I am already seeing a lot of people that only need to access their online services via a browser. Linux fits into that niche well.

Software? Shouldn't software be covered only by copyright? Or are you a paranoiac? Or should US have patents on books!?!?
ROTFLMAO! Really! When was the last time you turned on your "tube"?

Well that seems to be a major problem in your education system.
Hm... Do you really expect that revenue growth will stay the same all the time?

A: Never say "never".
B: Buying software in the store is so-o-o 1998.
Yeah... How many GB does Win 7 take up? About 10?
Guess that leaves out netbooks with less then 20gb SSDs.
