There is only one conclusion: Using IE6/7 actually reduces your intelligence by around 5 points per year.

  4. Re:BT are crap. on Tens of Thousands Flee From BT and Virgin · · Score: 2

At the beginning of the century, Virgin were a good ISP. Price, speed and a ONE month contract.

BT is the choice of joe six-pack, and seriously piss me off. When some anti-consumer bullshit is going down, BT are always first in the headlines. (Virgin and talk talk shortly after)
And they had an advert which spun the benefits of 802.11n as a benefit of choosing their service.
"Wireless keep dropping out? Oh, you need the latest BT home hub".
Which basically translates to, the marketing department couldn't come up with one single other benefit of using their shite service.

When dealing with a vendor I don't trust, I'd rather use the one with a real merchant account. My bank offers a bullet proof dispute resolution system compared to paypal.

Presented with the choice, I'll go with the site which has proper card processing setup. Paypal is just ghetto.

  23. Re:Silly Gates.... on Bill Gates Looks to Reinvent the Toilet · · Score: 5, Insightful

I'm not quite sure what this problem looks like in your imagination, but the fact is, we're approaching the stage where most of the world's population live in cities.
Population density without the infrastructure to remove the waste is the problem. It's a very hard logistics problem.

You can't just dig a hole 30m down the road in an urban environment.
Also, "planning an outhouse", yes that's another problem since lack of infrastructure, poverty, filth and improvised shelter, ie slums, are all part of the mix.

Lots of perfectly functional, albeit hippyish solutions like composting toilets do not scale to urban environments.
