While they focus on MySQL in their examples, these are the same authors of "the Art of SQL", which tackles how to formulate application schema in a optimal way.
It's actually a very good read - and if anyone had read and understood their first book, they would have no need for this second one, regardless of what RBDMS they are using.
Also, mod parent Flamebait please - because that's all it is.
I am not a lawyer - you are right.
But your argument is that techies should stop bringing up legitimate subtleties in technical legal arguments because the police can preemptively search your shit and ruin your reputation, even if you are ultimately acquitted of charges? What?
Although WoW QA/support has been much better recently, I'm worried they just wiped my characters.
90 mins past the rollout and counting, and the realms still aren't back up...and the next update isn't for another hour.
hurry up blizzard! i wanna see how bad you nerfed my warrior
Cisco to Challenge IBM, Microsoft in Enterprise

Cisco To Buy Jabber

Between acquiring WebEx, Postpath, and now Jabber, it looks like Cisco is priming themselves to challenge the major players in the unified enterprise collaboration space.
Proprietary will continue to dominate FOSS in the enterprise for the foreseeable future - this is the reality of the situation.
Not exactly. I believe they are providing the source of a separate project. They are not claiming it is the exact Google Chrome source. Why would anyone expect it to be?
And for the record, if Google said it was explicitly the source, one could build from source.
I doubt anyone is going to scour the source in either case. Just because something is open-source doesn't mean there aren't back-doors or exploits.
I simply don't trust Google. Apparently that makes me "ridiculous". So be it.
Fair enough, let them laugh away. Meanwhile, I'll wait for the Wii to have support for modern technology and to publish an exclusive title that's fun for people over the age of 12 before I give it any use.
Mario Galaxy makes me dizzy.
As far as Chrome goes, enforce what? They are being transparent about it - if you use the browser, you are subject to being basically snooped by Google.
Once the data is mined, it's theirs. There is nothing to enforce.
Let's see the judicial systems force Google to provably relinquish all the data they collect. Fat chance.
In 2-3 years when you have an HD TV and surround sound, please tell me how good the Wii is.
As an owner of Wii, 360, and PS3, I can assure you that the Wii gets by far the least amount of usage. It's a GameCube with a motion sensor remote. Is it really that enthralling?
How opportune. No matter which version of IE8 beta I try to download, I get a 404. (Or more accurately, a search page with no results).
What gives?

We cannot continue to allow these thieves to steal our indents!
Let my punctuation go!

I've been running Server 08 as my core OS since its beta versions and have been nothing but thrilled with it.
I still prefer the linux command line and power, but with the add-ons and virtualization at my fingertips I can get my BASH fix whenever I please (and no more).
insightful? this comment has absolutely nothing to do with the real point of the article! how was it modded as such?
this site frustrates me more by the day. digg here i come!
Most of the whiny trolls on this site are saying the article is stupid; that if you don't want your information to be public, don't post it.
However, many of you either failed to comprehend or failed to read the article. Every click on the site is mined in the database, regardless of your "Privacy Settings". This data is accessible to Facebook employees (and most likely advertising firms and government agencies that pay for/demand it...).
That is what the article is pointing out. Even still that should really come as no surprise.
how did this get modded up? {games} and {art} aren't mutually exclusive, and neither are {games} and {sports}.
Some games are sports (e.g. warcraft III, rise of nations). Some games are art (e.g. final fantasy).
and some games just plain old suck (second life).

Winesweeper.
You've never worked in an Enterprise, have you? This type of meaningless bullshit is the modus operandi.
Ballmer says economic crisis favors Microsoft, and Jobs retorts that economic crisis favors Apple...
5 hours later, still nothing. And they're forums have been down too, so I'll complain here. yeesh

He's not even an authoritative source on movies; why would anyone take anything he says seriously about art, sports, or games?
the ps3 has been "worth it" to any videophile since its release simply because of its bluray capability. It now has DVD upscaling.
for the more pure gamers out there - the ps online system isn't bad - the downloadable content can be quite good
