Short of mirrored and reflective surfaces? That's very interesting, considering I use a mirror as my 'mousepad' for my optical mouse and it's the best mousepad I've ever used.
I think you just convinced me to not buy something I already wasn't going to buy!
When I first saw talk about the Android I was hoping it would be like the OpenMoko project, except actually getting somewhere, but I guess Do No Evil fucked that all up.
I have an nGage someone gave me and I've been unwilling to buy a phone that actually works (I never had a cell phone 'crash' on me before) because of the lock in bullshit.
The least I can appreciate is knowing it's happening before playing the game, like XIII and Clone... uhhh... Commander or something, the star wars one with the NewZealander voices kicking ass and stuff.
HOLY GOD, That was worse than Bill and Jerry and Don't Copy That Floppy combined. Unfortunately, I can't have a nervous break down just yet, I still have to work another 5 hours.
And you can have a Model T Ford in any color you want as long as it's black, except back then it was to save money and be more efficient, now it's... I'm not sure, I don't see how Microsoft is really winning being the tightasses they are...
No problem, they just have to remove the little arrows that show you if that task is already opened, then it's just another application launcher with a pretty background.
Oh shit! This means we can't have icons both showing a task that can be opened and one that already is in one icon!
Oh well! I'm not sure how we'll survive, but those crazy developers are pretty resourceful, I'm sure we'll find some other way to launch applications and check if they're still open later.
Or occasionally the better funded business makes up something and then those evil free software lovers come and STEAL the idea of close buttons, scroll bars, and a menu to access the software on a computer in one location. They even stole 'file managers' and 'media players' and 'email clients'.
I don't understand why developers apparently have a hard time understanding what made Deus Ex great...
Because all the developers these days are fresh college graduates who get picked up really fast so they can get paid low wages to tell themselves they're making the next big thing when it's just the same old thing. It's not just the 'target audience' I.E. dumb kids with more money than they know what to really do with, it's the loss of the minds that CREATED the 'gaming industry'.
When Doom and Descent and Leisure Suit Larry and Kings Quest and Sonic and Mortal Kombat and all the other 80's 90's classics broke the mold, they just made stronger ones out of them. Anything that goes outside the gaming status quo, like Bloodlines, just seems weird to the masses who created the EA monster by buying the next NFL 'XX.
We may never have another Duke Nukem or Starcraft or Star Control II.
I saw this coming, ever since the talk about a supposed economic crisis. DMCA pretended to be about protecting virtual property rights, PATRIOT pretending to be about protecting citizens from the 21st century word for 'witch'.
One of my many bosses at work was really, totally into Vista, defended it tooth and nail and swore up and down it was the best thing he ever had done did see. I kept telling him he'd end up hating it, and just didn't believe me. Asked me if I ever used, and I explained the only time I ever did was for five minutes playing with a Touchsmart at Best Buy. He said if I hadn't used it then I really have no right to talk bad about it, so I just let it go.
Then he started having problems, blue screens, he shelled out a couple hundred on a new motherboard trying to bulldoze the problem, and it did fix it.
Then he got SP1, and he got blue screens again, then he reinstalled and he still got them.
Then he bought new memory...
New hard drive...
New processor...
New video card...
Then, and I swear this is a pretty bright guy, he found out it was shoddy web cam drivers, the one he insisted to always have plugged in.
Then he switched back to XP just so he could keep using that web cam. I said, "It's not Microsoft's fault that this company made bad drivers" and he said "Yeah, I decided Vista wasn't so amazing after all"
I don't think you're being fair, second hand you'll get that X40 cheap enough, but it sells for about 2000USD. You're really paying for a bit more then. The EeePC's obviously meant to be a cheap toy, and is priced respectively.
I wasn't aware of the 'rivalry' between Sun and, uhh, those bunch of other people who openly contribute to GNU/Linux.
Maybe it's similar to that 'rivalry' between Gnome and KDE, or Slackware and Red Hat, or all those other things that it's generally the onlookers that assume there's a conflict because heaven forbid there's such a thing as two different things sharing the same space when there's a choice to be had between them.
So, one day Solaris might win and then everything else will be gone?
These competitions only exist when there's money or ratings at stake, or when people are bored.
Probably just some asshole trying to make some word popular so later when the people they're trying to impress say it in conversation, they can go "Yeah?! Clickjacking! Did you know I came up with that word!?"

At least the snuggle afterward.

Oh, I know, I got a multiple of 5 on you, it's just funny when I think I'm funny.

Hello, Jeff, welcome to Slashdot. I see that you're new here, so let me show you around...

Zooming.
Patents really are funny things, aren't they?
Makes me wonder who really are the 'pirates'...
That depends, have you been nicked by a massive game publisher or developer to make the next great, big thing?

Damn you GNUheads!

I wonder if the idea of 100 people legally passing the game around after each person beats it keeps them from sleeping at night...

God, so stupid, why are researchers wasting so much time trying to make things so much harder? The solution is so insanely obvious it's painful.
Just ask "Are you a robot?"
Another Renegade? Oh, wait, that got released, and... it shouldn't have...

It's a trap! AHHH!

China didn't fake the fireworks, NBC did.
