Agreed 100%. I'm sick of people thinking litigation is the answer yo EVERYTHING. Money does not equate to the problem being solves. If anything those that sue would probably end up settling out of court in secret anyway, and the rest of us get nothing, or if its a class-action suit, those who participate would get $30 USD and the lawyers would make millions.
I like your tone. I think he should contact their legal department if he has not done so already. He mentioned sending emails, but to who? The editor? That kind of correspondence needs to go to legal. Inform them of the legalities and if they give you hell. Don't threaten a law suit, just thank them for their time. Then contact an attorney and let it rip.
Make sure you call Dell and report it and give them the case number, they can flag it in their system as stolen and if anyone calls in on that system's tag...they'll obtain as much info as they can and act like nothings wrong.
Only in the western provinces, I'm afraid.:-)
So, I have a shellfish allergy. It can kill me. If I travel on an international flight, and they're serving lobster, can I file a lawsuit? How about I just let the airline know ahead of time, so they won't serve that to any of the 300 people on the flight, just because me, 1 man, has an issue.
Sounds like a fair deal to me! Screw everyone else, I deserve SPECIAL treatment!
I'm all for testing as long as it doesn't cause apprechiable suffering for the animal. limited tempary discomformt i can live with, but making another living thing which feels pain live or die in agony is as evil an act as i can imagine.
especially when it's for something shallow like cosmetic testing.
You're so right, and thats so true.
If they're working on a customer's computer without proper protection (ansti-static wrist bands, latex gloves, possible dust mask) they aren't providing a safe working environment for their employees, and an employee who works on these computers at ANY Apple Store should file a complaint with OSHA, and possible file a lawsuit. When is is legal to void the warranty of a smoke? Why is it possibly legal, yet, denying service to a pet owner because their employees 'may' have allergies, is probably NOT legal. What if they denied a black/hispanic/gay/lesbian smoker warranty service, then it would be national news RIGHT NOW on CNN and HLN.
It doesn't void the warranty. Its just Dell tech support won't support the software, and will not troubleshoot any software problems on an OS that did not ship with the system. Canonical provides the support and troubleshooting for Dell systems shipped with Ubuntu. If she installs Windows on that system, and calls Dell for support in the future, they will NOT support her software issues, and will only be able to run diagnostics on the hardware using their diagnostic partition (assuming she doens't blow it out when installing Windows)
you think she would have noticed during the return/exchange period Dell as when you buy a system directly from Dell. You have time after you buy it to return it, no questions asked. Just call the customer care department!
Waiting for 5 months, THEN complaining, that's her own stupidity.
More reasons why the downgrading of higher education only leads to debt and frustration.
By bringing college to the masses...all you are doing is bringing the masses to college, if you understand what I mean.
Not everyone can succeed. Not everyone is a winner, trying to get it so that in America, every child goes to college, does nothing but lessen the quality of the college education.
I am/NOT/ saying you aren't capable, and that you earned your education. What I'm saying is a 4 year degree is a dime-a-dozen these days man.
Good luck to you (and to me...I work for a large computer company doing tech support for business accounts!)
I'm in tier 1 tech support...and the only script I loosely follow is call opening and even more loosely call closing.
Beyond that, I am free to troubleshoot as I please. My job frequently puts me on the phone with corporate help desks and the federal government (including the US Military).
The international community, from the UN to the IOC, is impotent these days. Afraid of any and all conflicts, so the rules and regulations they issue are trampled daily, without consequence.
With all this tracking of citizens, its hard to believe anyone can get employment or health insurance.
Big Brother is one thing when its the government, but I think its just as scary when its Big Corporations too.
Nice post, and I believe you're right. The problem, is, giving these powers to those that might just abuse them, without you giving them cause, let alone probable cause.
Thats what I use. I wouldn't trust M$ to "secure" my computer. I don't care how it works if its Microsoft and security...I'll take the open source solution first.
Do it, I dare you! Just watch out for Stallman! I heard he's in town...

Why are you using a 15 year old PC anyway?

I agree 100% with that.

Not at all. I saw "Plasma Plants" and I was slightly confused for a minute myself.

I love that! lol
This si VERY true in my case, however I have been out of the IT/Computer field for years, and this was my chance to get back into it

You can say that again

Thank you, I too have grown tired of it. Can't anyone come up with any new material?
This is why we have the SECOND amendment people...just remember that one too kay?
A little overboard no? This is only in effect at border crossings.
The USA isn't a police state, but the border crossings can be. I've been through them, they aren't THAT bad. I've never had anything seized though.

Yes, I believe I've read that somewhere, on one of those bad sites that I never visit. Not sure how any of this effects anything...
