Playboy probably has records that all of the models/actors appearing in its content are of legal age and has a vested self interest that their publications abide by the law lest the company face legal and financial repercussions.
I'm pretty sure all porn companies comply with 18 U.S.C. 2257. It's just as easy to ensure their pictures are legit as it is Playboy's.
Apple is simply saying they will not sell apps that contain porn.
Unless the porn comes from a reputable company like Playboy. As a parent, knowing that my child is getting his porn from reputable companies takes a lot off my mind.
You do realise that Walmart's censorship practices influence the content of music, movies, and video games right? You just gave an extremely good example of why companies who control a huge chunk of a given market acting as moral police is a bad thing.
Yes, it can. You just need to use the Movie api instead of ImageView. Next Android version will add it to the default browser, but by the time that is released, Flash will be out of beta.
The anti-freeze is just cheaper than propyline glycol or glycerine, which gives the smoke illusion. It's akin to a manufacturer who uses lead paint instead of normal paint.
All products suffer from these kinds of problems.
"When you walk into a chinese buffet, there is about 400 pounds of food sitting on the buffet. You eat less than 1% of the food on the buffet."
But I do get all I can eat. I do not get all I can download.
See the difference?
While the ISP's might have a right to bitch about 200gb a month downloaders, they really have no right to bitch about 40gb per month downloaders any more.
I have a 25 megabit connection. If I download 200 GB in a month, my connection was only used to capacity for 17 and a half hours, or roughly 2.5% of the month.
If there weren't more licensees than licensors, there would be no economic incentive to patent a gene, except to cross-license your patents.
If that's the case, then ending gene patents won't negatively affect anyone at all, they'd just stop cross-licensing.
Because it's clear what The Pirate Bay's, Mininova's and IsoHunt's intention is, and because the content is 99% copyrighted material with no distribution rights from authors.
99% of what Google indexes is copyrighted material, and they have no distribution rights from authors.
"t's pretty clear that the users of these services are the product,"
As is the case of every single ad supported medium. TV, news, magazines, search engines, blogs, you name it.
That ignores the researchers who were paying patent royalties, which far exceed those receiving them. In the end it makes far more research affordable than unaffordable.
I know a gadget-hoarding amish pneumatic engineer. Converted my dremel for me.
If they weren't they were breaking the law. Surely there is a provision in the developer agreement that says apps can't be illegal.

Comedy Central said the same thing. That why they won't allow Mohammed to be shown: fear of a violent backlash.
It can't even show animated GIFs,
Yes, it can. You just need to use the Movie api instead of ImageView. Next Android version will add it to the default browser, but by the time that is released, Flash will be out of beta.
I don't remember the last time I was required to take my paint internally though
Since when did you need to ingest lead to get it in your system?
Yes, open source software is very profitable for IBM to get you in the door so they can get you to upgrade to their closed-source systems later on
It's a strategy that makes open source profitable. Either you sell support, or you sell a value added proprietary version.

As a user I see no reason to use Opera Mini over Safari Mobile on iPhone. None.
Which is why the app was approved by Apple. They'll never let something actually useful like Opera Mobile on their phone.
It's not needed at all. It just saves a click or two. Same with wifi widgets. Not needed, just nice to have.
And Autonet has had a commercial product on the market for at least two years. Plus this had been an option on Chryslers since last year.
He has no more legal options than his email provider has. Either comply, or go to jail.
The court might order me to turn over my key but they won't be reading my mail, deleted or otherwise, without me knowing about it.
And I'm sure that'll be comforting as you sit in jail until you turn over the key.

Xzibit, is that you?
The size of your army is directly proportional to the depth of your pockets.
Where is the presumption of innocence,
In criminal court.
