So do they have a 3 million processor supercomputer? Possibly.

Unfortunately this will never be the case as long as you have big government spying on the internet tubes.

There are things you don't want the government to know. Just like there are things you don't want your parents to know. Etc...

Encryption is about keeping data secure and ultimately so only YOU and those YOU AUTHORIZE have access to the data. If you do not wish to authorize the government then they should have to prove that there is something in the encrypted thing relevant to the case. This is a catch-22, because in order to prove it they need to open it in the first place and without opening it in the first place they cant prove that there is anything relevant to the case.

It's more about a bunch of minor holidays (I mean honestly who gives a fuck about valentine's day not like any slashdot reader has a girlfriend) not getting recognized and the day Veterans and the War dead are supposed to be honored not getting the respect it deserves.

Yeah when I was doing a Computer related degree in College they used CentOS because of that fact. The thing is you're more likely to encounter RHEL than Debian, Ubuntu and such for server work. They exploited the fact that CentOS was a free version of RHEL and now RHEL has about 20-30 more people with college degrees that have been introduced to their work.

Myself I've used Ubuntu series of Linux on my home machine because its better for desktops but if I were to run a server I'd probably choose CentOS for myself (or a small business), RHEL if I had a big budget in a major company.

  25. Re:Let's break down who's on what side here on Seagate Offers Refunds on 6.2 Million Hard Drives · · Score: 1

For the record latency is a unit of time which you are measuring in fractions of how much it takes the earth to rotate 360 degrees. As a result we have one revolution split up into a fraction of 24 which we call hours and into 1440 which we call minutes and 86400 which we call seconds. But its alright we'll split the second into SI units of millisecond, microsecond, nanosecond and picosecond.

As for your base 10 list in a more serious manner...

Seconds are a unit of time which is built on a non-SI system until you get down to divisions of seconds.

Clockrate is measured in hertz this is true but the internals of the system uses base 2 for everything. This is why RAM is listed in base 2 notation and why Hard Drives used to be.

As for bandwidth related things, all of those are marketed as 'Up to' a certain speed. You never ever get those 'up to' in a real world scenario because line quality, distance and other factors will sap away potential. Also many of the broadband providers say you have a 512Kb/s line and frequently you can see your downloads doing well over that at least up here in Canada depending on the time of day though.
