It always slags me when a Windows app (there are Windows boxen among the zoo at home, yes) doesn't give you an option of where to put the Start menu items. Then there's EA, with their eleventyzillion categories in Start too. "Let me see, is that under Electronic Arts, or EA Games, or..."
Hmmmmm. You've got to wonder why that page would have the following verbiage -
Windows Vista SP1 will be available to the public in mid-March via Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.
Maybe it's not ready for the average person, rather than the early adopter with some technical skills?
Well then, apparently I am hallucinating my Razer
Barracuda sound card then? (Even if it is based on a C-Media chipset.
Maybe that explains the great deal I got on it.
Actually, you need to switch from cingularme.com to txt.att.net. Since the takeover, they've been phasing things over. (This from a guy who carries an AT&T work phone with unlimited SMS so I can get notification every time a ticket is either added to one of the queues, or ages past a certain criteria.)
Not entirely, it seems. The impression I had from the article was that the RIAA would cease to exist as the RIAA, per se. What we would end up with is an new organization built from the ashes of older organizations, very probably employing many of the same people and tactics. Music will not be free then either and we will have a whole new acronym to hate.
What I see is the shared headless Linux box my co-worker and I used to have, made with company hardware that needed to be used elsewhere, but in a form factor I can tuck away in a cabinet with no worries and very unobviously.
When I left an admin job, I got the frog march without even being able to clear my desk. In fact, they wouldn't even let my (now) ex-wife to get my personal belongings for the next two weeks. They also quizzed ex-coworkers who knew me well as to whether or not I would sabotage anything.
However, for the next couple of months, I randomly checked and found the modem on my desk for remote dial in was still active, as was the software, and even the password was unchanged.
Then it gets better.
This place went through a new admin about every three to six months (the boss, the head of accounting, was abysmal and I was told several times by coworkers that I had good grounds for a harassment suit), and my replacement, upon his termination, cordially requested to retrieve some files from the server. In doing so, he deleted 1.5 of 2 server volumes while the head of accounting stood right behind him.
However, thanks to the foresight and hard work of some completely unknown prior admin (hint hint), an excellent backup strategy was in place and they were down less than 12 hours.
That's very important. If we can't keep up with new innovations in stupidity, then there are other countries that will do more stupid things cheaper and faster than we can. I'd hate to see us lose the edge in the stupidity gap.
Not only that, but keep in mind, the documentation on the Verizon site where the firmware upgrade is posted shows that some of the routers are specifically branded AS Verizon.
I have worked in a position that allowed me access to a lot of VZW data, and I can confirm that Alltel was reselling VZW bandwidth, and, in fact, an entire region of Alltel service was converted to VZW without a single new phone being needed.
Having recently dealt with a prelinking issue (10.4.10, G4 400), the key to avoiding such issues is simple...
LEAVE THE MACHINE ALONE DURING PRELINKING/"OPTIMIZING SYSTEM PERFORMANCE"...
The use of other applications can potentially interfere with the prelinking process. So, during those times, pretend the machine is radioactive or some such.
No bandwidth cap here, so I never go below 2:1. I think my ratio on Demonoid was 2.33 to 1, with somewhere over 100Gb uploaded there alone. I find it highly frustrating that people even debate that point, as it weakens the network for everyone...
With my luck, we'd be getting along virtually virtually famously, when some virtual virtual griefer would come along, crash my phone, and flood her with virtual virtual color pictures of my last colonoscopy...
Surprised no one mentioned CaveQuake...
My LED is white. That's okay, right?

Don't forget Phoenix/Award...

Exactly my opinion. At home I have Wintel, Linux, and OS X boxen, and I use the appropriate one for the task at hand.
Now to pickup a cheap SGI box just for the odd looks...
Ook.

Funny.

Shouldn't that be, ummmm, on the gripping hand?

Wow.
This one Godwined fast.

No, but many of them do have ties to perfectly respectable and legitimate gentlemen's social clubs...
Mmmmkay, I think we're confusing "secure" and "identity verified" here...

Ahhhhhh. The standard pat answer on markups.
The cost of any given piece of equipment is only comprised of part and manufacturing costs.
No one ever has research and development costs, support costs, ongoing development costs, or just the plain old costs of doing business or such.
Yeah! Down with the man! They use absurd markups to keep us down!

Neither, but you do have to hop in parallel... And remember, the Mean Time Between Falls better be pretty high, too.

Okay, done preaching.
