That is a distinction that doesn't make any sense, since you can register and sue at the same time, registration becomes a part of a lawsuit, not something you have to wait around for before filing your suit.
As a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute I had a teacher run the entire classes code through MOSS for each assignment last semester, and aparently caught several people who had very similar code.
MOSS also has the ability to detect similarities in software strcuture as opposed to just checking for exact duplicates of code.
CS students who cut and paste each others code deserve to be caught in my opinion.
"wireless a possible alternative instead of a neat item to play with."
I feel that the biggest downside to current wireless is not the speed, which even at the 6.0mbps that I was getting in a lecture hall this morning while I was in #coverage in slashnet being obsessive about today's crash, but the range. Just under 500ft away I was getting 0% reception. Most people use very little bandwidth the majority of the time they are using any sort of networking and in most cases it is reliability rather then speed that is the limiting factor. Intel's site doesn't say anything about an increase in range only in speed, and as nice it will be to be able to stream audio, video, and serve a webpage over a wireless connection I do not really see the need for 55mbps over 11mbps.
When we start to see antenna's that are more then just useless screens and reliability without line of site is when you'll see more of a push to wireless.
Actually you are wrong; Massachusetts spent 90% of it's tabaco settelment dollars on anti-smoking legislation and advertising.
Goto http://getoutraged.org a website set up by the state to go along with a state wide billboard campaign.
Cynicism is great but you are quite wrong in this area. On top of that what evidence do you have that any state would be looking for money in this?
Did it ever occur to you that there are hundreds of major tech companies in MA that compete with Microsoft that would stand to benefit from harsher punishments to MS? Probably not.
Although you may be right that it is not due to testicles but rather economics that MA is holding out, your reasoning behind these economics is flawed.
Internet2 operates identically to the current Internet. The only difference is priority routing for connections between two Internet2 sites.
For all intensive purposes however everything is the same.
RPI has had Wireless implemented in the student union already and is going campus wide this summer. The school even loans out free wireless cards when you enter the student union building. Why is this news???
Buy a Sony STR-DE945 3 Optical in's and an out all w S-Video Switching and RCA switching. Also a Coax in. 5 Video Chanels (3 digital) and 5 Audio channels (including the tuner) then buy whatever cambridge soundworks speakers you have money left over for. That will be the most economic solution.
I agree, It seems the browser is no longer a way to view other peoples websites but a way to get you to visit the browser creators havily ad ridden portal.
Due to overwhelming demand show through e-mail communications and telephone support our company has developed a process that uses our customers MAC addresses to authenticate their accounts and automatically fill out all pertinent information required to purchase an item through our website. This will also allow my company to sell user information to other companies who will also be able to authenticate the user via their MAC address thus saving the customer time and money.
MAC addresses are unique numbers imbedded in network cards and modems that users use to connect to the Internet. The other benefit of this form of authenticating is the ability to monitor users without their knowledge whenever they surf the web. With full patent rights my company will be able to sell vast amounts of personal user information for profit. This sounds complex because it is and nobody has thought of it yet which is why we [The Company] are patenting it.
We [The Company] also plan on suing any other company that uses MAC addresses for user authentication of any kind such as through the DHCP process it was our idea first we have just forgotten to submit the patent. Hopefully this clears up all confusion.
As you see my company is patenting all use of MAC addresses for any sort of recognition we are also going to monitor all Internet users so that we can sell information about them to other companies without their knowledge. This is going to require the installation of software into the computers of all ISPs that we will use this patent to force them [ISPs] to install.
I'd like to see the statistics of Literacy Rates between Mandarin and English. Is it possible that even though more people speak Mandarin there are fewer literate Mandarin speakers. You have to remember that Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese have identical characters and they are written identically) is not a phonetic language so the time to become literate is much greater than that of English. This should be a much larger concern than how many people actually speak the language.
Research has shown that negative energy may have the ability to create worm holes and faster than light travel. See Scientific American
Do you belive that the creation of Negative Energy in the lab, even in nearly unmeasurable amounts, will be an obtainable goal in the next 10 to 15 years? If so do you think that it will make possible the proof of theroies about fater than light travel and wormholes?
Also how do you think this will change peoples views on Einstien's Theroies? If at all.
From Scientific American Article Summries:
Negative Energy, Wormholes and Warp Drive Lawrence H. Ford and Thomas A. Roman Contrary to a popular misconception, Albert Einsteins theories do not strictly forbid either faster-than-light travel or time travel. In principle, by harnessing the elusive force of negative energy, one can shorten stellar distances by bending space-time around would-be star trekkers.
Slashdot readers seem to be missing the poing of this device. It is not to circumvent being blinded by drivers with their brights on but rather it is to allow a driver to see past the range of his headlights, and even his brights, in case there are people or wildlife in the road ahead.
The whole idea is for an early warning system to help prevent collisions with road side tire changers, deer, moose, et cetra.
The small box at the base of the windshiled is not susposed to be your main focus at any point while you are driving.
A great idea that is well implemeted only wish I could afford it. Perhaps their will be a third party that begins to install the system on any car sometime in the near future.
Of course wouldn't Non Carboned Based Life be much more interesting to see. Just imagine a super slimy goo that responded to our radio signals with video streams of what Goo life was like. Goo Sports, Goo Politics, Goo Art, the possibilities are endless.

If they're giving up and renaming it, they may as well go all the way. I say "Visual Java .NET" would be the perfect new name.
I wonder if this is anything like the MOSS (Measure Of Software Similarity) program developed at Berkeley in 1998?
The press release here.
You can also see the MOSS website here.

Look at andover.edu, exeter.edu, choate.edu, deerfield.edu, and sps.edu Private High Schools all. That's 9-12. Not 4 year colleges by any stretch.
