  1. 3rd party Hardware Lo-Jack on What Are the Best Laptop Theft Recovery Measures? · · Score: 1

As noted before, there is no Guarantee for true security. This said I've always wanted to invest in a type Lo-Jack system, something small enough to keep within a laptop. So that anytime the laptop is on, it will send out a Signal every 5-15 minutes to keep the power consumption very low. Bbut the hardware would have to be independent of the Bios & OS and would be capable of being removed for maintenance. I do not beleive it would be perfect and it's range very limited, but would be something worth looking at.

So if what your saying is have Smart P2P focus on giving a priority rating for intranet over internet. Not a bad concept, would be willing to try this out as I see it a great step ahead in P2P technology. As for BBC vrs ISP, I feel it would be in the best intrest of the ISP's to offer the BBC a server spot in their intranet. This would be a quick fix for bandwidth issues & make the BBC content steam faster over all both would win in that scenario. and hopefully forward thinking people would take this good publicity to sell more and upgrade their pipes giving their customers what they paid for.

First thought I had when I heard of the SDK was, Skype on a Touch... woot. I still am very interested in getting it for my iPhone, but I understand from a business side why Apple is prohibiting applications like this. In the end after all the shiny it's about the bottom line. Protect your own Interests & Contracts while keeping a majority of your customers happy.

  6. CCP = For the Money & Fans on Why Aren't More Linux Users Gamers? · · Score: 1

CCP is one of the few companies that is working hard for it's Linux fans. I enjoy playing eve-online as I am a casual PC gamer and this game works with my time. I had made it work roughly with wine, but the official release made my life much easier and one less game to switch over to windows for.

  7. Re:Still the same on An App Store For iPhone Software · · Score: 1

We all need to make a few bucks, Since Apple is still a hardware vendor, they make most of theirs from the sales of the hardware. In the long run of things, those that are out to make money by selling applications with this. Have no real qualms with paying the $99 license fee. They will make back that investment back easily 100 fold. I do know all the details dealing with personal development. Once I can sit down and read it. I will be able to had my 2 cents properly.

  9. Control on Thailand Bans Teen Info On the Net · · Score: 1

As this is in the news, I'm pretty sure it's been filtered and cleaned up to make it look good. My hope is that it does just this and makes every effort to protect children and doesn't have some attached agenda in it. Otherwise this sounds like a solid law to help protect the children.

On another note, does anyone have access to the wording of the complete law, I am very interested in reading all it has to say.

  10. Legal Concerns on Non-Compete Agreement Beyond Term of Employment? · · Score: 1

I had to sign one of those a few months back. Actually had a chance to sit down with my employers legal staff as I had concerns dealing with independent php development I do. This sounds a lot like the wording I read. If your concerned Sit down with the company legal staff. If they are unreachable or very difficult to understand, Get a Second Opinion. But let your concerns be known. With my company it was as long as I did not write anything to compete with them or anything that could be based off of anything currently in use or in current development & future plans of them. If your personal stuff has nothing to do with your work then I would not be to concerned. Also on the patents, if you build a better mouse trap and if your work for a bank. They have no legal right to touch your patent. But if you develop a more efficient / secure ATM software then they can take it.

  11. Simple Plot ??? on Verizon Might Deliver Google Phone · · Score: 1

I will first off say I know little about this topic overall, but hope that maybe the plot behind this is simple one. If your not in a WIFI Zone then you are on the regular cell waves and your pay for a monthly amount for that. When your not you would be using some sort of customized VOIP Phone, which is where I can see advertisements being feasible in any way.

It's not like they didn't have enough notification. They let it expire, it's their loss. Also as noted above several times, the domain is being put to use and not for sale. 13. In the End on Walt Mossberg Reviews Ubuntu · · Score: 1

In short it's not perfect, but will work for the average user. I ended up installing Ubuntu on my Uncle's computer. He has 3 kids that play flash games when not grounded. They kept getting bogged down with assorted spyware. This is after several clean installs and numerous hours spent cleaning out the extra crap. He was scared at first and his kids didn't care as long as they could play their games. I promised I would be there for any help and if he didn't like it after a month I would put windows back. After the Inital setup making sure his mail worked & had flash installed. It has been 16 months and I've gone over maybe twice for oddball things like playing DVD's and setting up software. So in the end he was happy the kids we're happy & I can go over and not spend hours fixing his computer, rather just spend time with family.

I've had the same Dell keyboard for over 3 years, I have been washing it in the dishwasher for two. Every couple months or so I unscrew the screws and place the front in the dishwasher leaving all the electronics on the counter. Wash & let it dry, Put it back together and SNAP. Works like new. Side note thou several of my keys are now blank. That is due to wear and tear mostly, but I would not count out the dishwasher.
