    It would take 18-20 years to grow a replacement for the assasinated person. Why not just reform that person to someone more suited to what 'they' want them to be.

  6. But not because of age. Mostly because of cost. Younger folk are willing to work longer & harder for less money. My experience is that although there are a lot of young coders that can legitimately code better than I can at this point due to the fact that they are more familiar with all the new tools, they really do not know enough about what makes software succeed. Sure, they can put together nodejs microservices up quickly. They can whip up microservices in docker containers in a jiffy but their stuff always requires multiple refactorings before they become useful as they do not understand the big picture of what they are building. The see the grass, not the trees and definitely not the forest.

    It would an interesting experiment with disastrous implications. Liberal states already have an influx of freeloaders that sip at the state's tit. State governments are not much better than the feds when it comes to wasting taxpayer money. The more liberal the state govt the more waste it seems to have. I don't pretend to know how bad this can get, it definitely requires more extensive analysis than what peeps on slashdot can provide.

    Once a large enough library of these neoantigens is created wouldn't the process become as simple as a google search for the right combo seen before and just use it? I understand that currently the sample size is small thus the neoantigens seem to be unique to each patient but as the sample size increases I am confident we will start seeing repeats. Can anyone who know about this comment?

    Upper mgmt. decided to dive in all the 'cool' kids tech. Our team is large and ranges in age from mid 20s to myself at 51. I'd say that the cool kids are full of enthusiasm but they are making dramatic mistakes that is costing us time and money. Same way outsourcing was proven to work sometimes, I think the coolness of youth will also be re-evaluated at some point and the experience of old will be appreciated more.

    Obviously a lot of you don't have kids/acquaintances in that age group. Their free time is spent messaging, skyping and watching the multitude of famous youtubers. There is little free time left for anything else like personal hygiene, outdoor activities, movies, etc. The constant-on connection is occupying all of their free/leisure time.

    Maybe when you get a new PC/laptop, the question should be asked up front. Do you want to make your PC/Laptop more secure/easier to use/similar to your iPhone (with some small print saying that it will become a cloud-only appliance). If you answer yes then it sets itself to be that. You should also be able to switch between the two modes of operation if the need arises.

    As a teenager growing up in Europe, I had to compete for those limited spots. For many reasons, I was out-competed. The effort required to get into the top 'free' institutions was more than I was willing to put forth as I was a kid and wanted to do kid things not spend all day studying. Luckily I ended up in the USA where I got a decent education without the cutthroat competition. I became a very successful professional in a STEM field. I think the USA system costs a lot but gives opportunity to kids to become something without facing life-sucking competition at the age where they should be kids.

    I don't mean for govt to provide more civil worker jobs that are hard to reduce in the long run. They could have a bucket of part time jobs that could be filled by the unexpectedly unemployed. Even if the job is as medial as sitting at a desk answering calls or whatever. That job can pay the UBI as a salary. That way the person stays in the mindset of being productive.

    All of these drugs have severe mind-altering side effects. Memory loss sometime permanent is a frequent complaint. Dulling of emotions another. Of course, along with all the dulling, the bad thoughts are also dulled and thus the effectiveness. The drugs make you less human so that you can live with the fact that being human is a tough sordid ordeal. Hell, being alive is a tough sordid ordeal. It's just that since we are sentient, we question everything and that causes the root problem. I think that if depression is caught early and diet and exercise is introduced, it can be prevented from becoming life-consuming but it is not recognized early enough and it becomes severe, there is no times for games, the drugs are then needed to prevent a much worse outcome.
