Unfortunately a controversial post will generate lots of moderation in both directions - the negative mods will pull you down but the positive mods won't do anything. I've had several +5 posts that caused me to lose karma because there were a couple of overrateds in there. Not a bid deal since I will be above 25 for a while, but still a little annoying.

Color does indeed have quite an effect on the moods and disposition of its observer. Thus the bland shades of beige that adorn all office equipment up until recently.

Another ground breaking study demonstrated that dark green & grey caused people to 'de-intellectualize'. Their IQs would lower by an average of 10 points, and their reactions would be purely emotional. A group of stanford student volunteers subjected to 5 days in a room colored only dark green & grey reverted to their pure animal instincts, flinging their warm cereal and snack meat lunch against the walls in an attempt from the maddening colors. They acted out against each other until the researchers broke the experiment up on moral grounds. This research lead to the YHBT color model that is gaining favor in psychology today.

The original poster appears to be from the former Soviet Union, not America. Furthermore it is not clear from the context that 'gook' was meant as a racial epitath. More likely the poster was groping for a generalized derogatory term and didn't realized the racial connotations.
