    I interviewed for a company that has since been bought by Oracle. It made software to help insurance companies comply with Sarbanes-Oxley.

    That's definitely jobs that were created, but it sounds like a drain on the overall economy.

    Oceans may lag in terms of the amount of heat they hold. So hotter years from the 90s may be more of an affect now than the cooler years since '98.

    Maybe not. Global temps haven't been rising since 1998. That's just the way it is.

    So if you want to say ice is melting is proof of warming when average temps aren't warming, that doesn't follow.

    Ice melts and refreezes. When they were reporting on the melting ice there were other stories talking about unusually cold winters around the globe.

    I read a Philadelphia Inquirer (not a hot bed of global warming deniers) article from April of 2003 that reported that scientists weren't taking the Sun into account.

    But I have been assured that's not the case. The whole global warming project has my b.s. detector on full alert. Way too many variables and "unknown unknowns" to be dogmatic that we know it is CO2.

    Now that we've been in a slight cooling trend since 1998, it seems the global warming backers are getting a tad panicky.

    How about making a prediction that actually comes true.

    Mac OSX is pretty much NeXT, which was Job's idea. That was the main reason they brought him back. They knew the old OS needed to be replaced so Apple bought NeXT and took their ideas that they couldn't quite pull off, but were good ideas.

    There has been laws similar to these since the founding of our country. The prima facie case is against the 1st amendment being intended to prevent anti-profanity laws.

    I'm not a Young-Earther either.

    That being said, there is no way producing a bunch of amino acids gets you anywhere near a realistic Origin of Life scenario if you are an atheist.

    There are so many chicken-and-egg problems it is more like a minefield.

    Everything from cell walls, to left-handedness of proteins, the minimal complexity needed for genetic code, reproduction, etc., etc., etc.

    When I was a freshman comp sci major in 94-95, a lot of people were starting down the comp sci track because programming was a path to a relatively well paying career.

    We had our academic hazing class the second semester of our freshman year. Good thing too. Everyone whose heart or aptitude wasn't into programming got another major.
