    You are aware that there is more than one auto manufacturer? And, they already compete with each other on price? There is no need for another layer whose only purpose is to compete on the middle man markup.

    All that the dealers offer a discount on is the middle man markup. Remove the requirement to have independent dealers, and you remove their markup.

    Why would the original be anywhere other than with the owner? If you could copy a car perfectly without taking the original from the owner, is that theft?

    If you watch a lot of TV, you're absolutely right. However, I find that lately there is very little on TV that is interesting enough to be worth my time, never mind my $.

    Perhaps so, but the entertainment industry is trying to blame things like DVD ripping and distribution protocols such as Bittorrent for significan losses in revenue, which, for The Avengers, can be seen to not be the case. What other reasons could they possibly have for not liking the ability to backup a DVD and distribution models that will enable competition?

    Agree completely. In fact, I'll take it a step further. The current copyright system creates a disincentive in the creative industries; by artificially inflating the value of old ideas it discourages the creation of new ideas (yes, there are still some new and innovative ideas).

    Censorship by the American Government isn't that far fetched of an idea ... if you take the blinders off for a moment. What if the Internet Kill Switch proposal goes through, something happens to make the US government decide to disconnect Americans from the Internet and China offers a tool to help Americans reconnect to the 'Net?

    Exactly my thoughts: at the same time the US government is looking for ways to help Chinese citizens bypass Chinese censorship, the US government also looking for ways to be able to censor US citizens.

    Who needs to commit perjury? If a person has an Internet connection, it's pretty much guaranteed that they've violated the DMCA in at least a small way.

    What is this "chance to defeat ACTA" of which you speak? The process has been specifically designed to keep us excluded it's too far along to change. At this point, the best we can hope for is wisdom from countries that are less concerned about the freedoms of their corporations and more concerned about the freedoms of their citizens.

    Yep, well, when it cost less to produce a newspaper for the iPad than it does to print one and you have the balls to try and sell it for more than a printed newspaper, I'm sure you'd love the iPad as well ... at least until you find out that people aren't as dumb as you thought and they don't save your collapsing industry by buying into your inflated subscriptions.
