+1 for you. People who whine that the market 'sucks' or whatever are just lazy. If you know what you want, and you want it bad enough at an early point in your life, you just work towards it. You work hard. You forget about 90% of the parties your friends are going to, to party with your computer. Last time I looked for a job my phone was ringing off the hook just by putting my resume on dice, and I am by no means a Senior engineer. As far as TFA goes, yea, obviously demand for highly intelligent, experienced hackers is higher than dime a dozen script monkeys.
So you don't mean you couldn't find the Stop+A equivalent on a PC keyboard so you could type 'boot -s' at the OBP? I understand skimping on the monitor (insanely priced new), but I've never even seen anybody using a SPARC without a Sun keyboard. Before complaining about Sun I'd complain about your shitty management. If they were worried about cash I'd question even going with Sun in the first place. For most small-medium loads, performance on commodity x86 is better, and about a gazillion times cheaper.
rofl, by "single user mode" I think you meant the OpenBoot system. This is not single user-mode. It's a forth interpreted shell that makes PC BIOS Interfaces look like a half-assed undergrad's senior project. I am not a Sun fanboy, but come on.
Right, we should just assume the position i.e bend over if a cop asks eh? If he has the right to refuse anything a cop asks I suggest he exercise that right. Believe me, the more people that lawfully refuse a police officer's request for ANYTHING, the better.
This is normal behavior for cops around here. I've been stopped, frisked, and forced to take a ride home from a cop when someone called the police on me for walking through a rich neighborhood with shorts and a t shirt on during cold weather. I can definitely picture myself getting arrested for this, possibly even getting my house raided and a free anal cavity search.
I disagree, most *real* Windows power users can fix obscure problems. I don't consider myself a Power User, more like Intermediate, and I've worked with Windows for what I would say is a pretty long time.
Usually, if you get a blue screen it says a memory address where this problem occurred. If you write it down, and browse in the device manager for what driver occupies this space, you can usually do Update Driver, and fix it. Of course, that's if you're convinced it's a driver issue.
Are you kidding? You Ubuntu fanboys are hilarious. It's pretty obvious why people use Red Hat for business (Also obvious you haven't used the distro in some time), but your last statement is what beckoned me to hit reply.
When do you find yourself administering a Red Hat server that needs access to something that isn't in the repos? Never, your personal non-work desktop is a different beast.
Sounds like an ideal solution rofl, Java is cool for developers, (For the record I think it's a pretty cool language) but for SA's at large companies, it's more of a hassle.
lol I agree, more specifically with your last sentence. However, Microsoft's "revolutionary technology" is normally 'old news' as well. It's rare for a big company to come out with tons of new features that weren't already implemented (maybe even partially) in some way elsewhere.
Surprised you haven't gotten -113132 troll/flamebait, I'll probably get it instead. Wait, let me save myself.. uhm... I've got nude pics of M Shuttleworth, and the list of available packages in Synaptic makes me so dam randy. +31337 informative!!
The chip would be under 1000 if you ordered 1000 of them AFAIK. Sun's systems are not cheap, especially SPARC ones. The low-end configurations of servers running these I envision to be between 6 and 10 grand.
And, as far as the notion as a developer asking for laptops running these, rofl, I hope he was joking.
Same reason that anything on here that is almost pro-MS (yet true and not FUD) or anti-Ubuntu gets marked as a Troll or flamebait. Some of the mods are so out of touch that it's kind of disgusting. They disagree with something so it's a Troll or Flamebait. I was making a valid point, and I didn't RTFA (gimme a break hardly anyone reads every FA they respond to) and didn't know he tried to hire a hitman to kill someone. That makes it a bit different. As you can see in my comments, I replied that I didn't realize this.
My statement still holds true though, you sell some drugs on the side, you're facing more time than the average rapist/molestor when you get caught.
O wow did TFA mention that? I don't have a problem with most crime, besides stealing and violence/rape. So yea that's pretty bad, I almost take back what I said.
Well that's an actual reason, besides "why not install Solaris, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, RHEL, Fedora, Ubuntu, SLED, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and CP/M, so that you can jerk off to the length of your boot menu."
1999 called, they want their silly multiple boot config back.
VMWare makes this type of shit deprecated. Or are you measuring your internet penis by "number of installed OS's"?

If the girl is a /.er it sure will. In fact, once he says the word Ubuntu she would be ripping her clothes off.

For the record, IANAOR, I live near Boston, just saying the behavior is what I expect from cops.

Yea no shit, a lot of people suck at soldering though. I've never gotten a free car out of soldering though, +1 for the solderpimp.
And there are probably less than three fully operational brain cells left in your skull.
Doubt he's even a Windows power-user. They're a rare breed, and anyone who really knows Windows can learn Linux pretty easily.

Oracle, you clod. Changing the JRE one minor version if known to break tons of shit. It's a BFD for a large company to switch JRE's.

Where can I get a BIOS update to protect my legacy appz from these cosmic rays??!?

In America they teach you to pursue the "American Dream." This guy does he gets 30 years, meanwhile the guy who rapes your preteen daughter gets 3-5.
I know we don't need a new internet. We need new internets
Holy Shit!

If that's not a troll,
