To be honest this was incredibly smooth launch. Servers were up and running fast and everything seems fine except for the achievement service that died. BTW I am pretty sure WoW does not share infrastructure except maybe login servers which were never the bottleneck for WoW. Did it ever happen to you that you could not play another game due to WoW overloading the servers?
50% for SC2 WoL according to the stats. However it is the multiplayer that boosts the IP and interest in the game. There is high chance that the IP would be dead or transformed into something else (WarCraft to World of WarCraft) if it was not for the multiplayer.
Also note that Blizzard went away from the idea that the campaign is a tutorial for the multiplayer. The units in the campaign are quite different. They use other means to train the player like challenge missions and special multiplayer games (with rocks blocking the ways so you could not be rushed, etc.).
I doubt balancing costs that much. It certainly costs time but it does not require a great number of people working on it. The players are doing the testing and a few people are watching the result and tweaking the game. Also I believe SC2 would be more expensive if split because many people would only buy the multiplayer. In effect the multiplayer part is subsidizing the single player.
I completely agree. I've always seen LG as damaging to the Windows Phone ecosystem. I think the current line up - Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Huawei is perfect. In fact if I was Microsoft I would not allow anyone else to make WP devices.
If you choose to ignore the fact that he says they did not miss you may in fact assume that he talks about Windows Mobile and Windows Phone but if you take into account the fact that he says they were in the smartphone market on time he may only be talking about Windows Mobile.
I respect your opinion but in this games what has changed and why do we have any news here? I am not an avid follower of the indie scene but my impression is that very few indie games that work on Windows (i.e. excluding mobile games) don't work on Linux. Did Linux ever have shortage of quality indie games?
This is true but Humble Idnie Bundle contains indie games which Linux users support on political level. I don't think they are going to pay at all for big evil companies blockbusters. In addition Windows still made much more money for Humble Indie Bundle due to the number of users. In my opinion Linux users only pay for indie games and this is why they will only get indie games.
I doubt the future of gaming on Linux not because of any technical reasons but because the Linux users I know simply don't pay for software unless it is some indie shit. I cannot imagine a Linux user dropping $100 on the new CoD. You are completely right - devs love money and I simply don't see the Linux users showing them the money. My position is verified by a recent post by John Carmack on reddit where he explains about id's attempts to bring games to Linux and also points out that the technical investment in porting a game is not the actual problem. Turns out publishing and supporting a game is a serious thing and this is why Rage will not come to Linux despite the fact that they "could get it running in a couple of days". I even expect that games will be ported to Steambox and not released on regular Linux.
So how do you use this mouse when lying on a couch with laptop in your lap? Or on the bus/train/plane? Or on a conference? Because when working on a desk I always attach normal monitor, mouse and keyboard to my ultrabook and will not settle for less. Places where I can use a mouse are places where I only use the internals of the ultrabook anyway and for all the other uses touch is just great.
Strange. For work I wouldn't even use the laptop itself. I usually have my laptop attached to monitor, mouse and keyboard when working on a desk and I wouldn't settle for less. However there are these times that I use the laptop/ultrabook not on a desk. Mostly in the evening on the couch but sometimes when I travel or in a conference. When used in this way I have no place to put a mouse so trackpad is the solution but touch is so much better.
Would you rather buy an ultrabook/laptop without trackpad to save money? Because given the choice I would rather use a laptop without trackpad than one without touch screen. Of course I did not know that until I got one with touch screen.
I am eagerly awaiting the moment when Steam exits out of beta on Linux and Valve releases their next major title on Linux at the same time as Windows so I could laugh at the next batch of excuses why people don't switch to Linux.
The WebRTC guys. Lower level API makes more sense in this case for interop with existing apps. The WebRTC guys seem to think that everything should be in the browser anyway so other software be damned.

Well I play random but if I was terran I would gladly pay 40 EUR for the medivac boost. I believe it is the most powerful change/addition to any race.
Do you happen to be ex-Blizzard's Rob Simpson?

First of all, no it won't. Second if Windows Store does have the power to kill Steam on Windows then Linux won't save Steam.
They are doing this for their console. Everything else is P.R.
The "horror show that is Windows 8" has over 9% in the same survey :)
You realize Windows Phone and Windows are different operating systems right?
You do know that Surface is not a phone and runs different operating system from Windows Phone devices right?

Yeah, right...
And those other people said every pirated copy is a lost sale...
Don't worry you can still blame Microsoft like this guy did:

I don't think secure boot has anything to do with this.

I bet you will get pretty good with PowerShell in 18 months with the current resources.

Let me remind you that the whole Windows Phone loss is covered by the Xbox. Think about this next time you think Xbox is losing money.
