People in modern counties are getting taller.... having a good diet in your formative years will do that to you
The pre-WWII population grew up (mostly) with a restricted diet and poor healthcare, it's the people born after the second world war that have had the luck to grow up in a first world country that have had a good healthcare and enough of the right foods while they were growing up that have got taller... nothing to do with evolution just people growing to their natural potential height rather than being restricted by a bad/restricted diet and poor health
I would say that people back then did not have plastic surgery either....
The vast majority of the highest paid jobs do not involve danger, dullness, or any of the other things that put women off....... they do however require
* huge amounts of stress (not a problem)
* working for next to nothing for the first 6-12 months (not a problem)
* not going on maternity leave (pay and position is likely to reset every time)
* not having a social life
The top people in most companies got there (mostly) by sustained hard work over a long period of time, where they spent the majority of time in their early career working far too hard and having no social life, *most* women do not seem to be willing to do this, some men are...
The response of the Hobbyist community was to write and release a version of Basic for the same machine that only used 2K of memory (not the 4K that Micro-Soft Basic used) and they gave it away free.......does that sound familiar....
When the only interaction you have with certificates is lapsed or unverified ones, and those are the ones from legitimate sites that you need to use, then you get used to ignoring them
This is the problem with error messages, if they are too verbose or too technical, and can come up on a valid site, then they are ignored for all sites
Most people do not even read warning messages like these, ask them what it said moments after clicking through and they cannot remember....
Some scientist are not allowed to share, they would love to but they have agreements with rich companies who have the resources to provide the data, that say if they release the data to anyone the company does not approve then they cannot have any more data....
Scientist will jealously guard data before they publish their results, priority in publication is their career, but after publication they will as far as they are able freely publish their data and methods since they know that unrepeatable research is ignored, and ignored research is the almost as bad as unpublished work
This is the commercial face of research.... try asking a pharmaceutical company for their research data before they market the resulting drug and the company will politely tell you to get lost...
What we have here is two web sites, one which is run by a known conspiracy theorist and one by an apparently otherwise reputable researcher (who seems to be quoting the first site), where they are saying that a non-UK citizen asked for the data from a joint UK university and UK government body research project, part of which was obtained commercially under an agreement not to distribute, and they denied his request...nothing unusual about that....
This appears to be appealing to hidden data to justify his conclusions? There is plenty of freely available data out there, but since this is hidden he seems to be saying that this "proves" that all the other data is wrong, and he is right.... sorry but science doesn't work like that, conspiracy theories do....
Patents won't do this.... the large company will copy your product anyway, and when you try an sue them even if they lose it can cost you so much they can drive you out of business and tie you up in the legal case for years...and most likely they will simply counter sue you for infringement of patents they hold, so you will not make anything from it, and they will still be using your idea for nothing...
Number of ISP's in their area (Hull) is one, Karoo, they have a monopoly in the Hull area, so your alternative ISP is..... dialup with long distance rates applying
I can read this online - because it was written on Paper/vellum I can read the great works of literature - because they were written on paper I can read the original doomsday book online- because it was written on paper
It is rather difficult to read the new Doomsday project (1986) - it was issued on laserdisc LV-ROM to be read by an Acorn BBC Master - this had to be reverse engineered in 2002 (because of obsolete hardware and systems) to be available at all... and is now offline.....

...err no a real mainframe as still used and still selling nicely thank you is a 5 9's system (99.999% uptime)
Massively redundant, massively reliable hardware running a real OS that does nothing but run VM's that run Linux/Windows/Anything.... and is still capable of running software systems written 40 years ago
These are single systems where anything can fail (although it rarely does) and if it did not tell you you would not notice because it just keeps on running... you swap out the faulty component and it uses it as needed, these are systems where they plan on replacing the core hardware after 20 years.... and sometimes longer
A cluster of Linux boxes would use 10x the power and could never be as reliable... it would however (at least in the short term) be cheaper....
The real problem is that metric is the same all over the world
Imperial is not what the USA uses they use US customary measurements (this is subtly different from Imperial) e.g. a Imperial gallon is not the same a a US Dry Gallon or a US Wet Gallon, a US yard is not exactly the same as an Imperial Yard etc....
It is a standard but no-one else uses it.... I can imagine the nightmare of trying to to get contractors from outside the US (or even many from inside the US) to make compatible parts...
He is proposing the design of a ship, using technology that has not been invented yet, to manipulate matter/energy that might not exist, and even if it does we do not know the properties of, based on several possibly contradictory theories that might be wrong (and in some of which probably are)
On another unrelated topic I have a design for a car to drive between m-branes, I don't know what I need to build one, or if m-branes exist, or which of the theories of them is the correct one, or how to manipulate the energy they are made of, but I have a design....
There usual recommendation is to rename the product and/or company... which they did themselves Andersen Consulting became Accenture, this means you can advertise that you are the same as always and nothing interesting is going on....
VHS won because slightly more movies *that people wanted to watch* were on VHS...and so they bought a VHS machine rather than a BetaMAx machine, and so since more people has a VHS machine they bought more movies on VHS, and so there were more movies on VHS.... and so it snowballed...
The technical differences were minor and not significant (and most were later incorporated into VHS anyway) what mattered was can I get Movie X,Y and Z on this format.... the answer was slightly more often yes on VHS than Beta and so VHS won...
If this is true then they all apps potentially have complete access to the raw cell network, surely this is a bad idea?
On a normal phone, or any other smartphone the cell layer and the application layer are almost completely separate ....
Either Apple have done some severely sloppy programming or they are lying ?

...and when Marylin Monroe is submitted to these criteria she is shown to be not beautiful ....
They all idealise the current view of beauty ... they do not however show the underlying traits
Symmetry, Clear skin, Feminine traits associated with childbearing are the only ones that are reasonable and common to all these
All of these are universal and show health and childbearing/rearing ability, everything else is purely cultural and changes over time/culture

-20 much too cold
-10 Too cold
0 Cold
10 a bit cold
20 nice
30 hot
40 too hot
50 much too hot
what's inhuman about that ..?
Most people I know use centigrade for low temperatures and Fahrenheit for high ... then centigrade again
If it's freezing it's -5
If it's warm is 15
If it's hot it's 100! (F)
But water boils at 100 as well ....

The RIAA is a business - they have four customers (the Big four record companies) and four investors (the same big four record companies)
Do not make the mistake of assuming the the record buying public are a customer?
Simple, sell the original for a lot of money .... it is unique, and if someone values it then they will pay for it ...
Don't keep the original and try and sell copies for the same cumulative value

What's the betting that while suspended you will
a) still be paying for the service
b) not be able to transfer to another provider
