But Czech Rep, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania are already NATO members!
Someone fights for independence, someone just brings democracy - all the conflicts are always the same and always bad when the big guys decide it's time to do something about it - unfortunately, the civil population is always in the middle.
Any web developer worth employing does cross-browser compatible websites without hacks (or keeps them at minimum) and without degrading experience level.
(That's why we have all those funky Flash sites with do-superb-special-effects-on-everything-especially-on-menus(tm) where you have to wait minutes, and I'm not counting loading time, to get to the information you really need.)
But they are changing (umm, well, hopefully), look at all the open source initiatives and API releases lately. Perhaps they finally understood that they can "just sell" software while someone else is developing it. It works well with Sun and IBM so they want to work with Microsoft, too. Maybe...
Open source Windows? I'd like to know if the developers would actually help to improve/develop Windows or implement the good parts (there must be some!) to Linux:)
I wouldn't be so pesimistic. How many times I heard, "oh, M$ is dying!", "they do open source now, they must be dying!" And see? M$ is still here and it's doing well. The stock price goes up and down, that's a normal cycle. Why they bought ATI? Because Intel is doing graphic cards, too. AMD wants to see AMD motherboards with integrated AMD-ATI on it. That's business. Maybe they will die, but it will be not so easy as Intel would be only one mass-CPU manufacturer, so other players would jump in and pump/take over AMD, risk-capital investment games are funny...
...while Vivendi, Blizzard's current parent company, will become the largest single investor in the new group. I doubt they are going to mess with Blizzard. I think it's Blizzard who's going to teach Activision how to do business...

Motorola F3 is a budget phone without extra features, monochromatic display, thin and easy to use (no, no camera, no mp3, no colors, no mms). I haven't used it, I just had it in my hands for while at a shop and put my eye on it closer. The design is nice and the phone is really thin. It's also cheap and thus suitable for people who can't afford all those all-in-one multimedia phones or for older people who don't need such features. I saw ads on this phone here, too (here = Slovak Rep.). Make a trip to Europe (vacation or something:) or get a friend to buy this phone for you and send it to U.S.
PS: But your dilemma makes me really happy I'm not in U.S. and still have no problems to buy such things or a computer without operating system.

Very true. A few times while playing CS I just rushed blindly to "get killed" asap meaning I needed a few mins for bathroom break...

And even then...
If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, shoot it once more.
Utter nonsense! No vaporware, it's betaware.
Android will emerge soon - and few years later it won't be beta anymore...
