While I wasn't saying those solutions should be used (just could be used), I hadn't heard of Prism. Here's a link FWIW. It's a fairly interesting concept.
I would like to see a replacement as well. The obvious choices would be something like PHP or Python, maybe even Ruby. On the other hand, a functional programming language could be really interesting...
While that would be pretty neat, something like a Java or Flash solution is already available. Or, you know, writing a desktop app... Or, perhaps in-browser JavaScript interpretors could start optimizing a page's scripts to be multi-threaded with no changes to the language. I'm not sure how feasible that would be though.
It would be interesting to have more possibilities for scripting languages... I imagine developers could do some neat things having client-interpreted Lisp or Haskell... PHP and/or perl/ruby could be popular choices as well. What do you all think?
On the other hand, I would really hate to start seeing VBScript used in webpages.
I am really excited about this title as well. Mario was the shit even back in Wrecking Crew:) The problem for me is that I really miss the feel of the Mario games from the platformers era (Super Mario up through Yoshi's Island). Mario Sunshine had a little bit more of that feel than 64, but I was still not too impressed. Just my 2 cents...
If this title has more of that old Mario feel, there won't be any stopping me from getting a Wii... if I can find one!
You know they aren't too concerned with QoS because they would shape *all* your bandwidth instead of just torrent traffic if you are using "too much," whatever that means. I say if I pay for X amount of bandwidth DAMN YOU if you say I can't use it all.
Approximately 27.1 cents of every dollar spent on the Missouri Lottery benefits Missouri's education programs; 63 cents goes back to players as prizes, 3.8 cents is used for administrative costs and 6.1 cents goes to retailers in the form of commissions, incentives and bonuses. In all, more than 96 cents of every dollar stays in Missouri!
I remember there was some sort of scandal 5 or 6 years ago, but I can't find any info on it at the moment...
Out of curiosity, which commands in GNU tools are different/missing from OS X? (I guess I am showing a bit of ignorance of GNU/Linux... on Slashdot no less! Ouch:)
No, not really. Your state is getting paid revenue (supposedly for education around here - not always). Also, you are getting a chance to win the Jackpot...
I think the solution... is not more social networking sites, but rather a standard... protocol that they all can share
It's always bothered me that these sites more or less do the same thing. A new/better one comes along and people move there even though it is pretty much the same as the old one. Then I have to enter my profile info again - something I really hate doing. Centralizing all the information bothers me too. A "service scraper" would be a good solution, but I've always been tantalized by the idea of using a p2p protocol for a truly open, ubiquitous "friend site" experience..
And all pot dealers care about is their profits, and not hemp legalization, cannabis culture, or personal freedom.
Huh. That runs counter to my entire body of experience. Most dealers are selling just enough so that they can smoke for free and possibly make a little extra money on the side. Large scale distributors (the ones who sell by the pound or more) on the other hand probably care more about the money. It's more pure business at that level.
And yes, I do greatly respect dealers for "sticking it to the man." Or, at least for ignoring unjust laws like we all should.
I apologize for coming to a hasty conclusion. (I know, I know, this is Slashdot and we don't apologize, etc.)
No Give and Take. No Exchange of Thought. It gets you nowhere, particularly if the other person's tail is only just in sight for the second half of the conversation.
I'd like to see Fox (or any other studio) sue the MPAA asking for arbitrarily large amounts of cash to compensate them for all the piracy this weak crypto causes. It would be really nice for the tables to turn a bit.

ECMA International is a group that writes standards.

Like it or not these are widely used, and not just for porn.
;)
Yes. They area also used for grey market fansubs and pirated DVD rips
Actually, there was the "MacMag" HyperCard trojan from way back in 1988...

You're already losing by buying the ticket.

That's interesting. You'd think "one click" would have turned up in their search.
Last time I heard there weren't any martyrs being jailed for growing hemp for paper. At least not in the US.

No, no. It should be built into the OS.
Is it Usenet or email? I don't really use emacs; I'm more of a pico kind of guy :)

You're thinking like an antivirus designer...
Please stop that. You are being insulting. Not to mention misunderstanding what I have said in each of my comments.
I always wonder why do this at all??
For the sheer joy of it.
I can understand running Windoze on a Mac but not the other way around.
And that's obviously just flamebait.
More or less. OS X checks for specific hardware and will not run if it is not present.
Just because you don't know the shortcuts, doesn't make it a bad design.
You have got to sandbox those programs, and restrict what they're allowed to do.
And this has what to do with ignoring null bytes in a script? Nothing.
