Someone should tell them about fake news. Like every other third world country they are going to buy a cell phone, get on the internet, and something is going to blow up because the population sees and believes a fake news post. Welcome to Myanmar Facebook 2.0.
I used to penetration testing at a college in my spare time in IT there. We installed a new $200k wireless system and I demonstrated how to hijack a session and gain access to the system. I asked my IT director what he was going to do about this and he said "break the mother fucker's hands." I stopped documenting exploits.
Right. The only hope was single payer instead of hacky heavy-handed laws. People would have complained less about single payer than being forced to buy shitty, expensive insurance.
You can purchase a strong lock for your door and if a business does not do this they are negligent. However, information security cannot be purchased!! It is a development effort involving the business, system administrators and software programmers. You have to hire very knowledgeable and experienced people that are dedicated to security with the resources to be affective.
Bullshit. You can't blame the system admin. They only install/run the shit software that is purchased by a committee.
Sure, deploy some rubyonrails trash heap and access it with Windows XP and IE...what could go wrong?
Welcome to database dump land.
Even if they did hire good security people and listened to them they would have to back out of an extremely costly deployment and fix everything...not going to happen. Did I mention they would have to contact the defunct software manufacturer for updates and security patches?
There is a lot of mom-and-pop software/SaaS in healthcare just waiting to be owned.
Healthcare has about the same level of security as a manufacturing facility would have for its PLCs. Don't expect any to be close to secure without a major, right-headed investment.
You don't just save money when the roof leaks. It gets done faster and correctly the first time. People who depend on others for everything are often appalled at the level of service they receive. For the things I do pay people to do for me I also have to learn about it in order to be diligent and spot their fuck-ups. Ever taken your car in for a repair? Good luck.
Yes to all of the above. The only reason is that I had to do these things myself or they would not get done. Those with no clue on how to do all of these things have been coddled and provided for their entire life. It is not a path to happiness or to be celebrated.
Slackware is the only Linux distro I have ever connected with besides Ubuntu 10.10. I agree...it is not a good first distro because you look for that clean, crisp experience in all the others and never find it.
I turned on -1 browsing years ago and haven't looked back. I have had some serious laughs and would have missed some really good comments had I not. Filtering comments is the devil.
No. Developers (.NET etc..) are all jazzed up about Linux so they are giving it to them. Mind you, these are developers who don't have to manage the platform that runs their code and they are for some reason poking their nose into what runs their code ("are these Linux servers" "Yes, but why do you care?"). Who cares...develop software...throw it over the wall to the people who run it...they can run it how they see fit. Really annoying.
This industry has completely lost its sanity. I'm in a.NET shop now that is going balls to the wall Linux. No adults are in charge.
Personally I would write in.NET Core and try to discover the best place to run the code--objectively. No one wants to hear that shit.
OpenStack and CloundFoundry remove a ton of bullshit related to software deployment and scaling. Instead people are fucking with Ansible trying to wire all this up themselves--thinking they are blazing trails. Welcome to the modern enterprise.
I'm currently looking into starting a construction company focused on waste management. This "IT" industry is just depressing anymore.
Sometimes 1-2 start movies are quite entertaining. Letting the unwashed masses rate movies does not yield a reliable metric.
mmmmm tasty profit!!
This is a precursor to a move that will see GPU rendering offloaded to iCloud. It only makes sense.
People are buying Steve Jobs...not devices. It will fade.
You could have just retorqued the mounting plate screws and it probably would have worked for many more years.
I consider it a feature....place burrito here. Who doesn't like a nice hot toasted burrito?
Open up Cuba and the human rights violations will fade. They are ready and willing to join our world.

They will find it on Facebook where you posted pics and talked about your broken leg.

Total Streisand effect.

So it's OK to pick on autistic kids?
He said 1.5MM per person.......no wonder you don't log in.
Year of the Linux desktop and it is literally Windows. Cannot stop laughing---think I'm about to lose it.

...or if you are an adult and want repeatable processes that can filter through change control and can be stored in a version control system.
Yeah...it is insanely fast. I have no idea what he was talking about.
