Forget starrs or whatever. There needs to be a moderation list like we have on Slashdot. One of the list items could be: "This app is not what it appears to be."
All of the app stores are crap for this same reason. Users run a search for a popular app and get bombarded with pages of spammy shitty apps with the same or similar name. Apple is trying to address it and Google should do the same. Curate this shit or give the users a serious way to curate the apps so we don't have to see shitty ad-spam make-believe apps that ruin the whole experience. It has come to the point where I will not go to an app store and instead find apps from the marketing sites of actual real software vendors and businesses and I click on the link there.
Totally agree. I have lobbied for developers to build integration tests against their code. I started by lobbying for QA to do this but they weren't technical enough and couldn't handle it. The run-of-the-mill QA process is a fluffy user acceptance test. I have proof. We continue to find the real problems in production.
There is a directory and registry key that tracks the update install process. They need blown away. Just google around. It isn't that difficult to fix.
Have to agree. BBC is a very biased "news" organization. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. They have a better brand than CNN, that's it.
It wasn't the Unabomber being correct it was the collective intelligentsia that produced him, and the many others with the same thoughts, after witnessing people getting annihilated by nuclear weapons. The reality and the thoughts of many, concentrated on paper by TK, have become more and more apparent moving from deep abstract concepts to something that can be clearly illustrated in modern society over the past few generations. Thankfully there is still a discourse and unfortunately people are still getting murdered because intelligent people are choosing to check out as a part of that discourse.
Like the guy who shot all those people from a hotel window at the country music concert; Is the media going to tell us why he did it if it falls in line with the Unabomber's thinking? No. "He just went crazy. No details at 11."
I'm running very large screens to replace my monitor. This season a high quality name brand 40" 4K TV can be had that will easily replace your best monitor.
In 5-10 years Microsoft is going to be who people think of when they want or need Linux. We are already at the point where new systems can be built that are agnostic of the of the underlying OS using Microsoft frameworks and runtimes.
I guess the content providers have been living under a rock for the past 20 years? Oh no....they are dealing with everyone and continue to shake down the cable companies. I hope the Comcast and Spectrum stock prices have the fact that someone has their revenue by the balls priced in.
I imagine a bunch of neanderthals around a large table in a meeting room who's only reaction to everything is "raise prices!" I can proudly proclaim that I have never paid for cable in my entire 40 years on this planet. I am very well paid ("highly compensated employee") but I would never suffer the indignity of paying to have that shit piped into my home.
the fact that this all shakes down in public is insight to the dysfunction of the company. Like when a family argument spills out into the street.
I think the memo loses value once circulated outside Google. In that case I can see why you would think the arguments and points boring.

The upgrade works perfectly and has never presented any issues for me. For all intents it is a fresh install.

Solid. Solid.
Yes....but you have to pay for that.

You know us so well.

This is good shit.
It is not a stock. It is not the same as them backing a stock. It is akin to them backing the Euro over the Dollar. This is going to get good.
I find the commercials a vapid assault on my dignity.
We are the people. If they pull that shit we will just regulate them to an acceptable price. I love having all the power.

[Laughs heartily] You are SOOO cute! The World Series happens in America bitch. Greatest country in the United States.
Don't worry, these are cable companies we are talking about. They are hard at work dreaming up ways to punish their users into submission.
You were obviously hangry when you wrote this.
Crocodiles are immortal.
