The reason this is an issue to begin with is that a lot of Chinese people
take superstitions very seriously.
i.e. Wrong a dead ancestor, and he will come and get you.
They are trying to correct a behavior among their people that they view as being
harmful to the state in general.
So..........
They deal with it in the way they deal with everything else deemed generally harmful.
Your Wal-Mart buyer will go to some PC repair shop and say,
Customer "here, make it work"
Shop "you need windows"
Customer "do it"
Shop: $200 please
Customer "crap, guess I am out $200"
required:
All computers/monitors powered down. (and locked back when computers had locks)
All documents stored and locked.
But because a rule is only as good as its enforcement:
Hall monitors would come around after dark on random inspections.
Surely you were asking for it.
C# is a propreitary language, written by *one* company.
The only reason I can possibly think of for such an inane choice is that
Microsoft might be a sponsor.
The question of your turn around time is meaningless by itself.
Suppose that a customer representing 90% of your business insisted that
it was essential to get a bug fixed in 48 hours, or they exit, you go bankrupt.
Obviously a 4-5 week turnaround is *not* acceptable in this case.
Suppose a smallish customer made the same demand. 4-5 weeks may now
be reasonable, depending on your evaluation of the bug.
It all comes down to a simple equation:
If the *cost* of action A is greater than the *cost* of action B, you choose action B.
The cost of careful software management tends to be smaller than mayhem,
but that may not be true for startup situations, or emergencies.
So... Don't get caught up in dogma, always analyze every situation regardless
of predjudice.
Google's support for any product is generally worth only what
you pay for them.
i.e. Just try resolving a GoogleCheckout dispute, where
you are the buyer...
Tell him what you think!

This is how you get them to "upgrade" to XP.
Now, if a zombie infects your computer and turns you into a spammer, you will getting zapped with huge price increases. Bad or not ?

I woman swearing is perceived differently than a man swearing.

Look at MySQL's model. They license under GPL. They *trust* you to pay up when
use use their product significantly.
Saves everyone a giant headache.
