... only Vista and Mac OS X and later can unlock this crap? This is a petty excuse for fscking customers... again!
The FSF needs to alter it's plans for Defective By Design and broadcast a commercial on television, or something like that. They have a shitload of money, so let the mainstream know about this. Whatever they do, they need big publicity for this issue. Our daily lives ride on hard- and software, our very infrastructure is built on it, so FLOSS gets more important every day. This is not just me being a open source fanboy, this is realy important.
A CPU manufacturer always needs to have a faster CPU than their competition. So it's speed first, efficiency later. The latest and greatest CPU will be fabbed in large amounts, so it cuts the costs. These large amounts of pwnage CPUs all need to be sold, and selling them is easy because the best CPU now can still be sold as mediocre CPU later. When you fab a mediocre efficient CPU you can only sell it at a later time as garbage CPU so this is risky. Not to mention you cannot sell the once-it-was-the-best-CPU anymore because there are also efficient ones now.
Is there any software invention, that is patented by it's creator, that has improved computing? Now make a list of what harm patents have already caused. Now give that list to the senator, see if he still thinks software patents are for the better.
Now laptop manufacturers are forced to develop batteries that last longer because every laptop in at least midrange needs to be able to play movies. That means that these batteries will also become available at midrange prices. Ofcourse everybody here will RIP the BR discs on AC power and play them underway so unless you're stupid this isn't a problem.
They are actualy going to ship Win Server 2008 with a CLI and GNU tools? Well goodbye Microsoft: once the MS Certifeid jokes learn all that stuff then there is no point in still doing Windows.
I am sorry for my lack of knowledge of physics, but could this experiment reveal one or more of the 20 particles that Lisi (that surfer dude) is missing in his "theory of everything"?
"Hello we are IBM. We love Open Source! We want everybody else to Open Source their software, but we like to stay closed source."
That doesn't make them believable now is it?
DRM disapears, Microsoft loses customers to Linux, WGA gets removed from IE7 and XP, video games are moving to the consoles, people want to share their multimedia and software for free (as in price and beer), OOXML is getting dismissed, ogg is now all over the music torrent website's... I see a chance for FLOSS and CC. Many people (even my uncle who is a business man) knows about Linux know and Ubuntu is starting to get attention from the average Joe's. I met some guy who said OO.o was awesome and he knows nothing about computers except for the powerbutton and the Windows start button.
Just install Linux/*BSD/etc, encrypt your HDD with PGP and create John Doe user acount with it's own home folder...
*They boot up your laptop*
"What's your username and password, sir?"
*Give login name and password for John Doe user*
"Ok... you're free to go"
Eeeeeeaaaaassssssssyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Dreaming puts short term memory in long term memory (I am sorry I am not a native English speaker). The rat doesn't dream and therefore it's RL experience isn't put into it's long term memory and forgets about it. After a few days/weeks the rat forgets all his experiences and therefore cannot put it's 'testing' into practise when a similar situation occurs.

Actually, the only thing that the FLOSS community needs to do is learn about everything that Microsoft has ever done, and do the exact opposite...
"Please deposit five dollars for the first minute"
"Thank you"
-"No-no-no-no-no... thank you"

Ah! So that's why Vista is selling so well now!

Putt DRM into CPU microcode? *cough* Sun OpenSparc *cough*
More profit? They lose money with selling these things. It's the games they're making money with.
What are they waiting for, christmass?

If you had to choose between proprietary flash or Moonlight under the GPl what would you choose? This actually rocks!
