Google is just as corporate as all those other software companies. In fact, mabye even more so due to the fact that they are so active and willing to change or acquire so many companies.

The future seems bleak for a service like WiFi. Seeing as it is a fairly new breakthrough, large corporations have not yet capitalized on it, the WiFi Alliance is the only major controlling body of the communication, and that is a nonprofit organization. Much as Microsoft capitalized on the computer industry, making mainstream, insecure computers, I expect a number of corporations to begin buying WiFi rights and making the system even less secure.

  8. It was doomed to failure on Space Elevator Rebuttal From LiftPort Founder · · Score: -1, Redundant

Space elevators are only possible with engineered carbon nanotubes which have only recently been envisioned by scientists. With space-based federal funding on the decline, it is not likely this technology will be used anytime soon, perhaps not until after humans land on Mars, if that even happens. Federal funding is a blessing as much as it is a curse.

False, China has a capitalist market system, so technically you are supporting capitalism. Not to mention that Mexico (also a capitalist nation) exports a large amount of electronic equipment to the USA.

Vista is basically a rewrite of old code that was used in Win98, Win2K, and XP. Those that use these utilities will be open to security risks and software redundancies. TweakXP can do similar things to what is described in the article, but XP is XP, and it cannot be Vista. As much as people say MSFT cannot code worth a dime, it can do better than a LOT of utilities out there.

  13. Similar Observation on InkJet Printers Lying, Or Just Wrong? · · Score: 1

This reminds me of a similar study that was performed in the 90's on some older-model cars. It was shown that the gas meters on most cars were inaccurate, leading some gullible drivers to fill up on gas more frequently than normal. However I would expect that if ink companies are doing the same to businesses that use printers, it would be easier to rip them off into buying more ink, as it is the entire cartridge that must be replaced along with the ink.
