Ah so your school considered it a tower of babylon type moment? I don't recall that our school gave any context or "lesson" to go along with the tragedy. But I admit I was probably far too out of it, I always wanted to be an astronaut and this was devastating for me to see, to pay attention to what the teacher said from that point forward.
I was in a little private school and there was one class per grade, so each class went into a room to watch it on television. It was such a big deal to have a teacher going up into space that even the backwards Christian school I was in wanted kids to see it.
So that sucked. We all just sat there going from awe to horror and then we had to go back and try to do school work. Absolutely awful.
And thank you for giving me a new perspective on the films. I didn't want to dislike them, rewatching them with this information should be interesting.
Except obviously that isn't true or we wouldn't be having this discussion. I'm not saying it's not possible. I'm not saying that it wasn't the intent of the filmmakers. I'm saying that what I saw on the screen does not lend itself to that explanation without a certain amount of filling in the blanks by the viewer. And that amount is too high for me to buy that explanation based solely on what I saw in the films themselves.
I don't need my stories handed to me on a silver platter, but the level of alternate meaning you're suggesting would require far more obvious clues to be believable for me.
I follow a few bands with semi-elaborate stage shows and I've heard complaints (mostly from other fans) about accidentally seeing spoilers for the concerts. Because I guess knowing what outfits are worn totally ruins it or something. *shrug*
Like a good/. reader I did not actually read TFA, but unless they are also disabling this unnamed app and thus keeping it from screwing over more customers, then I don't consider MS' behavior to be decent.
And I'll stop there.
I don't understand how that is being decent? An application is causing excess data to be used without the customer's permission and it's good of Microsoft not to name names?
What facebook are you one that people don't troll with their logged in identity? I've seen plenty of people being absolute jackasses in a variety of painful ways to anyone and everyone they could be, all while signed in under their own names. I've seen people use their facebook login to sign into other sites that allow it and continue to be jackasses in brand new places.
Having your name attached only shuts up the moderately sane.
Some libraries do have online options. My local library has online search of their physical and digital offerings. I can also borrow digital items (movies, audio books, ebooks) online with my valid library card. The Sony Reader store actually links you to a national website that helps you find your local library.
I get hating your job, I get finding the students to be morons and unteachable, but to post about it in a way that you could be identified? Idiot.
Well fed, if we're talking about corn the grain. In need of a doctor if you mean something else.
Agreed. That's why I'm looking forward to Watson's performance on Jeopardy. I saw a little clip on Wired I believe and was really quite impressed.
I didn't realize the abacus could be defined as a computer. A calculator, sure.
that's quite neat!
non-scientific computers? So is there an even earlier computer that was in some way un-scientific?
I was in fifth grade, my teacher was freshly out of college. I sincerely doubt she had any training that would help her to cope with that situation.

Yes, actually, thinking about it again now. I can agree with that. It didn't make sense and from that point forward I did have trouble with the films.

If they really went for that, I'd consider seeing the movie.
a holodeck? At least that would make the 3D actually 3D.

Oh, well then, two gold stars for them!

The politicians use it, why wouldn't their corporate masters?
I'm not rushing out to buy, but it looks functional enough to me.
Yes, simply "not being friends" will totally shield me from ever seeing any jackass behavior. You're a smart one.
I'm not. Facebook has groups and companies on there and people post all over those pages as well.
