So now if you go to a show expecting live music but instead you get pre-recorded computer music, isn't that similar to lip-synching and at least shouldn't that be reflected in the ticket prices and in the show description, because if you RTFA you'll find out that the customers apparently didn't even know that half of the orchestra was replaced with a (badly built - apparently it crashes too often) computer program.
So the ticket prices need to reflect this new reality, because otherwise it's only 'helping' the top management who get in more dough, that's about it.
the same should also be said of downloadable media in relation to the creation of the physical version. sure, there is still overhead, but nowhere near the expense of the latter.
i do ignore laws that i oppose. the bitching about it can go either way. if you can get enough people to rally your cause and become a martyr, more power to you. if not, oh well. personally, i'd rather go to jail for something i believe in than blindly follow the law.
"fucked in the ass". i believe that is what you were trying to say. it is as bad as shit, poop, crap, and feces all meaning the same thing. no word is less offensive than the other, unless you are super childish. also, this is not personal. i just hate it when people write stuff like that or "kiss my a**", "s my d", etc. it is already being said, so trying to "tone it down" or whatever is just pointless.
i call to make resale a mandatory part of any digital media (movie, book, song, etc). the people who sell them should have to make the infrastructure available. or the product should be drastically cheaper than one with resale rights.
this is one of those issues in the larger IP discussion that drives me fucking bonkers. what did/does work in the physical world, just doesn't cut it on a global network. in fact, it is retarded. sectioning it off any more is just stupid. license globally or gtfo.
Rule of law. If you don't like the law, get it changed though the various means available to you.
any idea what the rate of change for laws is, especially those that are against the people who have bought the law-making system? you'd have equal the chance of getting slavery re-instated.
how about we directly vote where our taxes go on our I-9s? i think would sort out most of the mess. let the lawmakers have to make do with each categories' set budget. could break it up into military, education, infrastructure, etc. it'd be better than the system we have now, where the biggest complaint is people not wanting their taxes to go to stuff they don't like.
it depends. if it was broadcast freely over the air (or obtained via subscription), i can record it. you can record it, too. hell, if you have a better recording device, i should be able to have you record it for me. new revenue streams or the quality of recording devices should never get in the way of things that were perfectly acceptable in the past. if i hear a song on the radio or see a television episode that falls under my cable subscription, i can and will record it. if companies would stop crippling the way i can get it into my preferred format in the quality that it was aired, i'd stop downloading these goods elsewhere. but nooo. most dvrs/cable/sat boxes have their firewire crippled, so when i could be dumping hd goodness to my pc and converting for any number of devices, i end up having to download the shows and archiving them that way. sure, i could just delete dvr recordings and be done with it, but since precedent was set in the past, here we are. in the future, when all media is pay for every viewing/listening/etc, we'll look back at this and cry.
no shit. you can't choose a career that is known to be both dangerous and stressful, and then blame danger and stress for your mistakes. bad cops are there because good cops let them. it IS that simple.
we could cut our military spending by 75% and still be set. think about how much we waste with bases all over the world, arms manufacturers bilking our hard-earned tax dollars, etc. the list goes on and on. let each branch do its own r&d and manufacturing, maybe a reverse gi bill, where they pay for your engineering degree and then you work for uncle sam for a few years. anything is better than what we have now: a big, fat, welfarish jobs program. its a tough call that nobody wants to make.
if private businesses don't have to honor your freedom of speech, why can't they refuse to let you vote? it should be all or none, imo.
and at the same time more and more channels are finding it easier to just letterbox.
collusion is okay, if the market is non-essential? i guess that explains cell phones, too.
this is why lobbyists and pacs make me sick. they ruine the whole political process.

sounds kinda fraudulent. maybe people should, in states where only one party has to consent, record these and class action the hell out them.

i wonder if there will be any change in regards to limiting what os can be run on what hardware, interoperability and all that. hackintosh?
both.
i bet it is a large case of stockholm syndrome.
then bills the creator for at a later time

i think the parent means that eventually, you'll be able to buy directly from the authors, which would be awesome.

there are plenty of non-networked blu-ray palyers, so...
pay up to download and have full access to that content.
how can you have full access to drmed content?

now fix the other leaks in the gulf, cuz there isn't just this one, sole pipe that needed capping.

how about getting to work on an actual moon base instead?
does allowing companies to actively discriminate against people who have served their time lead to more crime?
