You and the AC above you are absolutely right. Women form a far more tight distribution than men. Less idiots, less geniuses. There are more men at both ends of the spectrum than women.
Yeah, that's why you can 'short stroke' a magnetic HDD (mostly done in a RAID 0 setup) to only use the outside of the platter. It's not terribly effective but it may give you a small speed boost until frag kicks in.
We're looking into starting a 6 month trial of Clearspace in the next couple of weeks. I would be really keen to talk to someone who has used it in the wild.
Is anybody else getting the feeling that this is a little half-baked?
Why could we not fix some of the cost/uptake issues with SSL to encourage broader uptake rather than implement some broadly unsupported kludge that provides minimal benefit??
I'm even further out of date than you, time just flies.
Thanks for the link. I understand this isn't a support site, but as an insider I thought you may know the answer...
I downloaded the 'MS Office complete reference' zip and found it only contained a handful of the documents listed in the master reference file.
Also, the links to many of the documents contained in the master reference don't work. eg. NTLM, SMB, Excel file format (both XLS and XLSB), web part specification (WPPS), web services (WEBSS) and many many many others. All of the interesting stuff;-)
GP is actually correct. Cigarette consumption is regarded as relatively inelastic, with governments receiving vastly more income from cigarette sales by raising taxes. Demand elasticity for cigarettes hovers around -0.4 for a 10% increase in tax there is around a 4% reduction in smoking. This means that taxes are an excellent way for the government to keep it's snout in the trough and still appear to be doing something to combat the issue.

It's simple really. Make a PC versions with so much DRM that more people will pirate than buy it. Claim the PC market is dead with figures to show it. New releases will be console only. No more problems with pirates.
Campbell just wrote up in book form what anyone could have found on tvtropes.org
anyone excepting Campbell of course, who wrote his book over 40 years before tvtropes existed.
I agree, there are new things under the sun indeed, however there are also deep thematic resonances and similarities across many types of literature and film.
Counter-counterpoints:
b) AU is not a representative sample of "the rest of the developed world." Perhaps you had better refrain from making such an inclusive and easily refuted incorrect statement as in your parent post? You didn't ask for a representative sample, you made a blanket statement and you were called on it.
d) The euro surged relative to most currencies. Everything is relative. I reject your needless pedantry. Yeah? I'd like to see your evidence of that one.
Somebody else has taken you to task on point c)
Even as AC this deserves an upvote.
Wake up mods, this is NOT FLAMEBAIT, this is one of the most authentic and honest posts in the thread. Thank you Rastl, you have my respect.

Oh for mod points. Well played.
They fixed it. I think that's a good sign.
I gave up on WD and Seagate/Maxtor quite a while ago.
Now running on 3.5TB of Samsung drives, a mix of HD103UJ 1TB and HD501LJ 500GB drives.
Quiet, fast and (to date at least) very reliable.
*cough* that's actually two examples

You are dead right. Perhaps it's time to start educating them?

Could you drop me a line if you are interested?

Do you have any idea where I could find them?
Clever. Easy. Cheap.
Nice work.
As a buggy whip maker, I think that this would be the appropriate time to gloat about my 'outdated business model.'
Oh, only 4000? that's ok then.

That gave me the biggest smile I have had all day, perhaps all week.

Game over for PC titles, literally.
