The issue is relevant because it proves that self-sustainability is a possibility in the near future. This should be the aim of every valid nation-state.
Considering Lucas's direction since ROTJ, the ewoks, and dare I say it, Howard the Duck, why am I not surprised?. Lucas has been on a downward spiral ever since then, as has been repeated ad infinitum on every msgboard netwide.
If Lucas allowed fans to create their own stories, that would be a lucasfilm funded expose of thier own creative bankruptcy. He believes that by filtering out their dissent that it doesn't exist, consequently allowing him to belief that his ideas are good, and that he is a good director - HAHAHA.
Gamespot has been one of the best gaming sites for a long time. It seems to an inevitable switch, since the (deserved) decline of advertising based websites.
Isn't there any non ad based revenue that can work without subscription fees? I for one don't have money to waste just to read a website.
I've been addicted to marijuana, pr0n and evercrack. Marijuana was the most expensive, pr0n was the hardest to quit, and evercrack was the most debilitating to my life (the other 2 came VERY close though).
When you first start everquest, and any addiction it gives you a real rush, but diminishing returns start kicking in. The good thing with everquest is theres so many in game problems that after playing for 6 months for 10 hours a day you will get tired of it and hopefully quit cold turkey like I did. If not you can go high level and cash out your gear for big bucks.
Anyway I urge all of you fellow geeks to give up your pr0n and evercrack...you will feel better like I do now, trust me.
Older generations had the problems you describe, but the current new generation of LCD's are great, having alleviated the ghosting and other issues. I have a NEC 1550V and it has none of the problems you describe, its great for games and dvd/movies/editing. Furthermore on an LCD you CAN adjust the refresh, but you don't need to since they are set to run at one refresh, the reason being they have no flicker. Regarding resolutions, mine is a 15" set at 1024x768, yes the quality is less at 800x600 or 640x480 but modern graphics cards can run all my games at 1024x768, so whats the problem?
True stackup:
LCD Pros: size/weight no eyestrain or flicker no radiation perfect geometry perfectly flat with no black lines on side of screen
Cons: supposedly has worse contrast/gamma (though I noticed an improvement from my old 17" princeton CRT)
Monitors Pros: better contrast/gamma? and cheaper for the size of screen
Actually, England does have a bill of rights, all the way back from 1688...the US and Australia (and Canada) legal systems are based on this and english common law. It doesnt guarentee as many freedoms as the US bill of rights, but it was certainly the legal influence for the founders.
Farming only 6% of the continental U.S. with hemp could produce enough energy to provide for America's energy needs and end dependence on fossil fuels. Hemp is the number one biomass producer on earth (10 tons in approximately 90-120 days). http://www.hemp.com/101/QuickFacts.asp
Quite frankly this is absurd. Who the hell cares if the ratio of men to women isnt 50/50. Thats not what life is about. More "News For Nerds" please, less socio-political stories.
The thing is, those piddly little squirt guns look pretty weak. They should liscense it out to Larami so we could get Glowing Supersoakers! now THAT would be cool:)
In a conceptual sense, what you are saying is true...but in the contextual instance of Quake, thats unworkable...if the counter cheat to aim bots is that you can dodge shots, whats the point of playing? The whole point is to shoot your opponenets...I definitely disagree that making the cheats "part of the game" is a bad direction to take... All we need is aim bot proxy detection... maybe there could be things like, if the server detects a proxy client, then the proxy client spawns with less health than the other clients?
The only solution might be to run all the code on the server. Yes, really. Imagine the client side just being a 2D graphical dumb terminal just drawing frames from the server. It can't be 3D because it would be hackable at the driver-level again. Carmack has already talked about this, this was his original ideal development model (dumb client). But real world problems caused it to be discarded. The latency and bandwith requirements for a dumb client are not able to be provided in this day and age. Hence, the QW compromise was born. Something like that needs to be done now, all this talk of making 100% secure systems etc is moot really, we just need to keep hacking up Quake as its always been done...
Sorry to be a bit off-topic, but in all these recent aussie related threads, ive seen a fair bit of disinformation posted regarding Australia. Specifically regarding it being a prison colony. In the 1700-1800's, Britain had a highly opressive legal system, a man could be arrested for taking an egg he found on the roadside to feed his starving family. This of course led to large overpopulation of british prisons. Most of these people were not real criminals. Anyway, so they started deporting them to thier overseas colonies, America, and Australia. Wasn't that one of the reason the americans were annoyed at the british, dumping the prisoners there? Anyway, since then there large immigrations of non-convict settlers from britain and after WW2, europe. Recently there has been an influx from asia too. So the stereotypes about Australians being decented from convicts etc are wrong, as the majority of people are not, and they werent really anyway... Anyway, censorship sucks, props to the cracker.
Dont be silly guys, the judge isnt saying anything about Linux being competition to Microsoft. Because it isn't, from his standpoint. Competition == company vying for the core desktop OS market, ie being preloaded on OEM systems. Linux is mainly competitive in its technical specs and grass roots server useage, not Microsoft's core desktop OS market...which is what this is all about. IMO, this is a good fair judgement. Microsoft is a monopoly and has been using illegal tactics to maintain it.
James Earl Jones's voice is already too well known, and associated with the famous King Mufasa lion character.
:)
Sean Connery is a good choice, his voice has the rich range that I always associated with Aslan. Other choices, how about Christopher Lee
