Linux can't use it? Install Linux on it. Since their protection is embedded in the iPod OS, it should be easily fixed by installing Linux on the iPod itself. Suddenly your iPod can do more, and is not bound to Windows/Mac anymore. And did I mention that it is free?
Or you could hire an armed guard standing beside your computer/server at all times. Or just don't.
In most cases, point 1, 2, 3 and possibly 5 is more than enough security. In any case you should have a secure lock on your server room if you have important secret stuff stored there. Physical security has a lot less bugs and workarounds...
Ophcrack live (CD) does not crack all windows passwords, only about 99%. Still it uses only 20 minutes and can crack passwords up to 14 characters, while running from a bootable CD. And it is horrifying how few windows sysadmins who know about this...
We're probably there on raw compute power, even though we don't know how to use it. Any medium-sized server farm has more storage capacity that the human brain. If we had a clue how to build a brain, the hardware wouldn't be the problem.
I disagree. The human brain has more storage capacity than we can imagine. We can remember things from early childhood throughout life. And computing power is also behind. We are processing several hundred megapixel images 30 times a second while making quick decisions based on that data. With today's hardware we couldn't even analyze the eye input signals fast enough, let alone the complex nerve system which constantly send different signals.

Version 1.1 will be announced in may, and will be tightly integrated with.NET. Game over. Mono can't keep up.
You are describing a perfect standardization situation. It won't happen. If OOXML becomes a standard, it will be just another excuse for Microsoft to use in anti-trust cases.
1. Oslo is the black hole of bad results in Norway. I don't live there, but I have been there. Oslo is becoming like USA, the rest of the country is not.
2. Everything can get better, and I agree that the health care is not perfect. But it is a hell of a lot better than the US health care. Though we still are lacking behind France, and other western European countries.
3. Who watches NRK anyway? I know I don't...
4. In what other country do you get free 13 year school, free health care, tax free income up to $70k a year, interest-free loans through college and guaranteed intern work after college?
5. The unemployment is extremely low compared to other countries (per citizen).
Norway is not perfect, but it is a hell of a lot closer than USA is.
1. I wouldn't point to France as a shining beacon of a socialist utopia. A year ago, people were rioting in the streets because the government let businesses fire people.
The protests only shows that the people want more socialism.
2. The war in Iraq has nothing to do with out economic system.
It costs several hundred billions a year...
3. You throw out a "failing" assessment of our economy without any qualifying sources to back up your assertion.
Socialistic democracy works this way. In Norway we have a socialistic government, and pretty high taxes. Still everybody is free to do whatever they want, within the law, as anywhere else. We can choose where we want to work, what education to take, and where we want to live. We also have free health care. The only downside is the high taxes, but they are only high for those who can afford it. A win win situation, unless you want to be a billionaire bastard without paying high taxes...
Norway is a tiny country, yes. But there are other examples also, like France. I am not insecure, I just want to point out that the US is going in the wrong direction. The economy is failing, they are losing in Iraq, and they have lost many liberties (The patriot act, anyone?).
I would recommend having a look here. Very interesting read.
I don't really want to bash the US, I just want to point out that they are on their way down. Most US citizens are in denial, but it is true. Just watch sicko, and apply Moore's discoveries to most parts of their society...
Socialism does actually work. It is just the Americans who think that all socialism is communism who are wrong. In Norway we have a socialistic government, and we are currently rated as the best country in the world to live in. Also, socialistic health care has been proven many times to be the best.
In fact, most political ideas work, if they are not put to their extremes. USA is going towards a capitalistic extreme, witch can become just as bad as the communism they hate so much.
GPLv3 states that you have to be able to use modified versions of the code on consumer devices. How can you circumvent that? Even if it runs in a hypervisor, you are still violating the license.
The submitter writes that most people in the Working Group were against the OOXML, then 20 new companies show up and vote yes for a final vote tally of 25-6-3 in favour. Even without those 20 votes, the tally would still be 5-6-3. I know this is slashdot, but in what way would leading by a single vote qualify as "most people" being against OOXML?
Last time I checked, 1 more is enough for anything to be called most.
Just the fact that this forum even exists, shows how defective by design WGA is. A dedicated forum to WGA problems with 226 PAGES with 20 TOPICS each... I still cannot understand why people keep buying this crap...
Interoperability by design Microsoft approaches interoperability by design which strives for greater 'out of the box' connectivity for customers and partners.

What he just did? He sued them because they did what he previously told them was okay. He accepted the EULA, now they own his PC and his data...

It does crack 99% of used passwords, not 99% of theoretical passwords.

No, it is make install. How many times do I have to tell you that you get things done by make install?
But you can use the Google Earth ad-on in your google earth for Linux...
I would guess that whatever your favorite non-bloat software is, it is most likely in Damn Small Linux...

You can have a bit of both. Socialistic rule of state, but freedom for every individual as well. Socialistic rule does not mean police state...

Thank *insert appropriate deity*. This is just what we need. I just hope all the other voting countries are learning something from this.

The vote shouldn't be based on a company's interest, but in the functionality and necessity of the standard.
