  1. different labels for the same folks on Thimerosal Does Not Cause Autism · · Score: 1

As the incidence of autism spectrum disorder diagnosis has increased so too has the incidence of mental retardation diagnosis decreased. Essentially children who would have formerly been diagnosed as mentally retarded are now being diagnosed as autistic. That or we've all but cured mental retardation. Yay science!

  2. Global Warming on Did Insects Kill the Dinosaurs? · · Score: 1

I saw this in a movie called "War of the Worlds". Also, I'm surprised that these "findings" weren't somehow applied to global warming ,i.e. if we make the globe warmer then we'll get more biting insects and more diseases. I thought that's where they were going.

  3. Say what? on Antitrust Suit Filed To Halt Apple 'Music Monopoly' · · Score: 1

So their argument is that the most popular music player doesn't play the most popular music file type? Then how is it still the most popular music player? Bad law suit. Worse lawyers. Good luck kids.

  4. XBOX 360 on LG & Netflix Team Up to Offer Downloadable Movies on TV · · Score: 1

If I could stream the TV on my PC to my TV through my XBOX then it would be a huge success at my house. Of course Microsoft will wait until someone else does this before they invent it.

  5. Wii'll pass on Nintendo May Pull Wii Ads To Avoid Hype · · Score: 1

I was going to buy a Wii for my kids this Christmas. I even had $275 burning a whole in my pocket for it. For about two weeks if I had seen one at retail or been notified by iTrackr that there was one available I would have snatched it up. This weekend my kids wrote their letters to Santa. None of the three had a Wii on their lists. I realized that maybe I wanted the Wii more than they did. So I spent the $275 on the stuff they wanted and had money left over. I'm glad I never found a Wii.

  6. Re:Nevada? on Area 51's Lead Designer Admits Project Was 'F'd Up' · · Score: 4, Funny

Yeah, that'll happen. The key is to note the word followed by the colon, to the left of the headline. The headline in this case, "Games: Area 51's Lead Designer Admits Project Was 'F'd Up'". The key word here would be "Games". Happy reading.

  7. Re:A few observations on 38% of Downloaders Paid For Radiohead Album · · Score: 1

My experience has been somewhat the opposite. Really good bands often have hidden gems on their albums that will never be played on the radio. I suppose it depends on what type of music you're listening too. With pop artists, I don't expect there to be more than one or two songs that will get airplay and the rest of the album is going to be filler-crap. I would never buy an album from a pop-artist. (Vanilla Ice taught me this lesson in 7th grade.) On the other hand, I often lament the fact that I don't have more money to spend on albums when I find a band that sounds legit, because I know there are bound to be great songs I'll never hear.

  8. Whacked touchpads on Phantom Hourglass Review · · Score: 1

To increase the level of difficulty, try playing this game on a DS with a whacked out touchpad. Also, I wish that sword swinging were still button driven as I found the stylus driven attacks to be monotonous. Also, it could have used some L-targeting.

  9. Better than SHAMOCRACY on Colbert Ballot Bid Shot Down · · Score: 1

Time to get a new sponsor and bring back traveshamockery.

  10. N/A on Halo Movie Is Still Dead · · Score: 1

I pretty much hate Halo but I like BSG. I think if the BSG people handled the Halo movie I could watch it. Considering the BSG people are all out of a job at the end of the fourth BSG season, why not give them the movie?

  11. Wii care why? on Xbox Arm of Microsoft Posts Profit · · Score: 0, Troll

How many hundreds of millions of dollars does that put them behind the Wii at this point?

  12. Wii crossing on Animal Crossing MMOG / DS Flash Card Rumored · · Score: 1

They're still trying to figure out what type of game animal crossing should be on the Wii? That is seriously dis-heartening.

  14. Micro$oft on The '360 Arcade' Made Official · · Score: 1

Damn Microsoft and their cursed "editions". Who would buy an Xbox without a HD? Being that it's the cheapest Xbox my mom would have, that's who. There are going to be some mad kids on Xmas morning this year and some surly customer service reps the next morning when all the moms come returning.

  15. Re:End of the World? on Switch to Digital Television Picking up Steam · · Score: 2, Funny

I believe that for all intents and purposes the Mayan calendar ended about 1697 A.D. Guess they were off by a few centuries.

  16. Free Internet Games on PC The #1 Choice For Kids Gaming · · Score: 1

I have a 5, 7 and 9 year old. The free internet games they play include games found at nick.com, cartoonnetwork.com, pbskids.com, popcap.com and neopets.com among others. Usually we have a waiting list to use the computer. All the sites feature free webgames. Often these three help the two year old play elmo and blues clues games. Many of the games they play are educational. Also, given the technology driven society we live in, there is an inherent educational value found in being introduced to computers at an early age and learning how to use them. I feel much more comfortable having my children play supervised internet games than I would feel having them play on a leapster.

  17. Google? on Microsoft Wants To Read Your Brain · · Score: 1

How has google not patented this? Sounds like Microsoft trying to out-google google.

  18. Rare on Game Studio Flight From Microsoft A Sign of Troubles? · · Score: 1

The games Rare made for Nintendo were some of the only playable non-Nintendo titles on the N64. Rare certainly benefited from having access to Nintendo's characters and Nintendo benefited from having a studio which could competently create a playable game. I'm looking at you Namco and Capcom. After the break-up there were too few good games on the Gamecube and this article tells you everything you need to know about Rare's post Nintendo success.

  19. Dragon Warrior on A Case for Video Game Remakes · · Score: 1

The original nintendo version, mis-named and all. No gaming experience has ever equaled the first time i played Dragon Warrior. Do it up in 3D like the current Zelda offerings but keep the story, map and bosses as is. Sweet!

  20. Re:how about the 2d, too on A Case for Video Game Remakes · · Score: 1

How has nintendo not made a wireless touch screen for use with the wii. The television screen acting as the top screen and the touch screen acting as controller/bottom touch screen. This drives me nuts. I don't want a steering wheel or gun or balance board, I want to be able to play DS titles on my TV. Get on it nintendo.

  22. infiltrator on There Are No Games So Bad They're Funny · · Score: 1

I received this game for the NES one Christmas and it was so bad that it was funny. From the helicopter scenes to the base action to the poison gas. I tried to play this game every six months or so but it never really improved. The thing that makes it funny is that it was so damn serious. This was life or death stuff, just impossible to play. I may have to get an emulator to play it just thinking about it.

  24. Perception on Judge Orders TorrentSpy to Turn Over RAM · · Score: 3, Informative

The problem the judge has in this case is perception. The plaintiff's are arguing that there is a way for the defendant to create a tangible record of the contents of their RAM which the defendant is obligated to produce under the rules of evidence. The defendant, in trying to educate the judge as to the nature of RAM is perceived as hiding something. The judge is forced either through her own ignorance or through defense council's incompetence to order the production of the information. It's unfortunate, but probably the correct decision if the judged thought that the defendant was hiding discoverable information. Thankfully there is an appeal and perhaps the appellate attorneys will be more competent or the judge will be more open receptive.
