On the Office 2007 interafce, yes, it does take time to get used to such a big change but once you do, you soon realize that MS really did a good job on it and you can customize the damn ribbon somewhat as I'm starting to do. I think the one thing I really appreciate is the spell/grammar checking feature. Yes Open Office can Spell Check but it doesn't do grammar checking worth a damn. Since I save/export to RTF on a regular basis, file sizes tend to be the same.

    2) That's why I don't like any linux not built from source code - gentoo/lfs ftw - because you have to depend on somone else deciding what apps/features/tools/purpose your computer is used for

One thing I've learned is to check the Newegg reviews for linux probs/support from hardware since use Linux users will report if something works or how much trouble it was to get working. Very useful for those of us in mixed households as it allows us to support Linux hardware makers while getting stuff that works fine on Windows. As an example, I was looking for webcams and found two models that specified Linux Support both of which had reviews indicating Yes it does work. The first one indicated it was a UVL device with support in 2.6-26 kernel (V4L) while the other also supports linux (debian-lenny) out of the box. That's the kind of info I now look for when it comes to Linux support.

On Topic: The Open-PC project looks down right good to me though I think they screwed up by using such a large PSU in the case. Isn't that the entire purpose of the mini ITX design? Less Power needed? Heck that's like a Via mini-itx board being powered by a 500 watt PSU. It'll work but it's serious overkill for the hardware.

Considering the fact that as 7 year old, I was wrongly diagnosed with ADHD at the School Districts behest instead of the real problem being addressed - I was bored out of my skull with normal class work due to an I.Q. of 138. "Get to the meat of the subject Teach" - My primary teacher allowed me during class reading time to use the library where I hit the encyclopedia's on any subject that caught my attention. Mainly Civil Engineering (Hoover Damn) the space program (Apollo, Pioneer) and grew up on Star Trek ToS, Project Shadow and had my interest in science and technology encouraged by both parents through Radio Shack and HeathKits (Yes I built several Crystal Radio's as the house we lived in had an AM Antena with connection for such endevors).

You might have some vague grasp of why I feel that the issue of ADHD is over blown/rated. It's too damn easy to say "Have one of Momma's Little Helpers", which was an actual advertisement for Valium in the Late 50's early 60's. Talk about drug pushers. The pharmacutical Companies have gamed the entire system with the War On Drugs because it isn't Profitible for them or their Share Holders. It's all got to be certified by the FDA or it's bunk/junk or useless, just like the DEA told California that they Would Not honor the Medical Use of Marijuana and would continue violating the States Rights in direct Violation of the Constitution, which since 9/11 has been so badly gutted by Congress through the Patriot Act, extensions of Copyright and other acts that you now can be charged with a crime for any reason. And to top it all off, the tax burden upon the so-called Middle Class is not the 38 percent they keep telling us about but almost 90 percent. It used to be that everyone's tax burden was paid in full by March 15 (that was all taxes) with the rest of your income coming back either as a refund of taxes overpaid when you filed.
