Quite a few Reservations here (Minnesota) have switched to wind power and they apparently love it. You see some of us live in states where it is windy (Minneapolis has an average wind speed higher than Chicago) and we have land (farms can easily slap a wind turbine in the corner and power several farms, which is also becomming kind of popular here). Granted its not exactly plug it in and ignore it, but it is cheaper than buying your power (long term) and it is "cleaner" than any other method (unless a migrating flock of birds cuts through, which means you didn't do a proper analysis of migration patters). But hey why bother, when we can just leave radioactive waste laying around for a couple hundred centuries.
The military is the largest part of the budget and they generate a grand total of zero revenue. So if the PTO money is going to the general fund then the military would most likely be where it ends up. Or rather in the hands of some contractor since the soldiers get paid dick.
The rich get great treatment. But overall we barely rank above Cuba (a country with dick for resources). But we spend more than anyone else. And have a shorter lifespan than before the invention of the HMO. And one of the worst infant mortality of any developed nation (and higher than many developing nations in the Americas).
And if you manage to get care without insurance it cripples you financially. 7 or 8 years ago a friend of mine slipped down some stairs and broke his clavicle (sp). He went to the emergency room. After waiting for a couple of hours they took and x-ray and gave him a sling. Then they told him to come back in 6 weeks. He never went back because before his 6 weeks was up he received his bill, $2500. A lot of money for a 19 year old with a job that paid $7 an hour. With no insurance of course (once his 90 days was up he went from 40 hours a week to 32 thanks to his company not wanting to provide benefits). He ended up paying the bill, a few years ago when he joined the army and went to Iraq (Falujah I believe). He paid it off with his military pay checks. Of course for some reason dental care wasn't made available to him while in the army so the two teeth he lost (thankfully thats all he lost) haven't been replaced with fakes.

I didn't say it was better than vmware, I said it was better than vmware player. The free product meant for end users, that only allows you to run pre-made virtual machines. Virtual PC lets you make your own virtual machines and is also free.

Star office hasn't been free for a long, long time. They started charging to make it look more legit. Thats why oo.o was spun off. My point, if you bothered to read it, was that 5 years ago works was the only two options if you wanted an office suite was works or star office. And with star office your choices were downloading it, most likely over dial up (look at broadband penetration in 2002) or paying $40 for software others were getting for free and feeling like a sucker. btw since you are clueless about star office and now oo.o I'll explain to you how people paid for it. Retailers carried a cd version of it that listed at $40. Same way they carried a $50 cd version of redhat, which no one buys because people don't like feeling stupid by paying for software that is "free". Generally they were stuck in a crappy box and shoved on a shelf somewhere and none of the employees would know what it was. When I worked at compusa I remember wandering the floor one slow day (I worked in the tech shop, so I didn't get out of it much) and noticed we had oo.o for sale. I mentioned it to a co-worker, who's job was to sell computers and software, and he had no idea what it was. I did a quick poll and 5 out of 5 salesmen had no idea what it was. Hell some of my co-workers in the shop didn't know what it was. But I must be a troll since I choose to use microsoft products.
