They need enough competition to care about quality and security, and low enough market share to get more companies doing cross platform.
The website (ie, most websites) probably doesn't even encrypt the data or even your password. Password strength isn't a serious issue there, if a government gets involved, the data will be theirs.

I threw a quick php script to test, and let it run for 10 minutes. It didn't finish.

We don't need laws banning texting and driving. It's already covered by existing laws of dangerous driving, negligence, etc.

I've never understood why the bloated standard library needs to make Java so slow to load.
You need to import every class you use -- it should only be loading the classes (or packages depending on how you import) that you need.
