You gonna replace an entire stage of musicians with a keyboard & samplers controlled by a sequencer ? Not at any show I'm going to. Not even on an album I would buy. Example # 1, great band from the Portland, OR area I videoed earlier this year. Plays mainly Jamaican inspired instrumental tunes - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4VdqsE1iE4 .
I remember back in the old days, maybe before 1996 or so, hard drives each had their own led header pins. I had 3 or 4 drives in my computer with 3 or 4 hdd led's in my front panel. No real purpose, just liked them, much like these. By the late 90's none of the drives came with them anymore, sad days, just one motherboard driven light for all the drives.
I am all for open hardware but I guess I would just root a cheap popular android phone, then load whatever variety of rom I that fit what I wanted. Also, a problem I see if since it's a keyboard phone, why only 3 rows ? Ive always have phones like that myself, and still do, but I always look for 4 rows, full number & letter keys.
I'm with you. Who wants to start a change.org campaign ?
I had satellite internet for a few years, until Verizon put up a new lte tower right down the road. Bandwidth & latency problem solved, monthly bandwidth limits made even worse due to the increased speed. I had ping times to anywhere of atleast 800ms with 1200 being more average. I tired to use my cell phone over wifi and with the 2 second (1 second each way) delay it was just confusing.
Why connect to a free and often slow/overloaded wifi when most people get acceptable 3/4G service around town ? If you have a laptop and you have to get that paper submitted most people just goto a starbucks or McD's.
I checked it today, was working fine. For fun I looked at insurance, they stuff they offer in Washington was worthless. Sure you can get insurance for 220$ a month, with a 6000$ deductible(yes not hundred), 60% payment (You pay the remaining 40%) and copays from 60$ (office visit) to 200$ (ER). For coverage you could actually use it's over $400 a month, I would not call that affordable.
I see people who go out and buy 800$ DSLR cameras, have no idea how to use any of the functions, just keep it in auto, making their pics no better than a cheap point and shoot. They don't know what shutter speed, iso, white balance is or what the difference between a 55-80mm lens and a 75-300mm.
Pandora easily works across all platforms, itunes is fairly limited. Andriod devices, smart tvs, gaming devices, set top boxes can use pandora but unlikely to ever get itunes.
Replacing my old 4x3 36" tube hdtv (that was about 105lbs) with a 48" lcd was a good move once a majority of programs were broadcast in widescreen. Now replacing a 4inch thick 48" lcd with a 50inch 3 inch think led does not seem worth it. Not wasting any extra for a 3d set, that fad was done 3 years ago.
Bad moves all the way around. Our kids have a 3ds and ds that has not been used in months or a year even. They get all the games they need for free to 2.99 on their tablets & ipods or are happy playing some game on their laptop. Spending 29.99 on a game they may play for 20 minutes is a waste of money.
Next the original ds design was very durable, could take some drops, could be sat on or stuffed in a bag. This design will lead to lots of broken screens and buttons. They should have just designed the 3ds games to be playable on a ds to start with, they did the forced upgrade to play the new games trick. And the 3DS was a bad idea to begin with, I always keep the 3d off or my head hurts, never seen the kids using 3d, nintendo even says eye damage may occur if young kids play in 3d mode.
The video performance is slightly less than something like a radeon 7750, 89$ on newegg. You could maybe buy 3 desktops like this for that price. But with in AIO you stuck with that level of performance forever. And most all in one's support dual monitors. Not a serious machine.
They just sit back and are happy with what's given to them. Who has used the multi-camera option on a dvd ?And are there any dvd's that even used that feature ? Same idea here.
Yes, I would buy a surface if it had outlook..Said no one ever
Hopefully Nvidia will get paid for some kind of guaranteed minimum sales from MS, so when it flops worse than the 1st model they won't be out millions in r&d and dead stock.
At least on Windows, it's fairly easy to remove all the preloaded programs. On my last phone (sidekick 4G) had so much preloaded junk and so little ram, it was constantly getting stuck for 10-15 seconds while loading / unloading swap files after exiting apps. I rooted it, got rid of about 10 useless apps and it solved all the phones problems. If they somehow lock down the android phones and remove root access, they need to also require all preloaded apps be removable.
T-mobile did the same thing here in WA 6 months ago, they started sending out an amber alert at 3am and we kept getting these alerts every 20 minutes for hours until we turned the phones off. We still kept getting them that night even 10-12 hours after the missing boy was found. Finally found a setting in our phones to disable all these alerts.
Most XP machines are sitting in offices, warehouses or your parents house. The will run facebook or office just fine on outdated drivers. I have a xp laptop with display drivers last updated in 2008 and it still works fine for daily tasks. Unless your playing breaking edge games or doing serious video editing updating your drivers with each new release isnt needed.
Not to much longer these types if systems will sell for $20, then $10 until they are no longer seen as computers and just in everything. Special box of Captn' Crunch that include include cartoons or a movie on a little system like this, your kids watch them while eating breakfast, once it goes dead you throw the box away like anything else.
MS has what, a phone, 2 tablets, Xbox and little boxes of Windows and Office. No one buys the phones or tablets, much of the software is downloaded (both legally and not) and the Xboxes will likely remain with the rest of the games. Since the consoles and hardware are usually the same price everywhere, many people stop by a gamestop to grab their games and skip the trip to the mall.
For me, it's faster to order from newegg or amazon than to goto best buy. If I want something, it usually takes me 3 or 4 days to get to a best buy (it would help if they opened before 10) and in that time I could just have had the same thing delivered for less money.
Anyway, Best Buy's days are numbered as more and more products become downloadable. Hardware is so much faster than is actually needed, upgrades are not regularly required. Many people are doing just fine on 8 year old Win XP computers.
MS's days are numbered as they keep trying to force products on people that they do not like. They threw away their entire stronghold on operating systems on a gamble (trying to put a tablet interface on a PC, hoping people would then buy their tablets & phones since they look the same), what they forget is people have other options. Just skip replacing the old laptop with a new Win 8 laptop and buy a non-MS tablet $200 or less.
Not chrome, but for the past several years Ive used Dolphin. Either way, most people I know do not use their default browser. So shouldnt be a big deal, if you use the default browser, your near hitting your monthy bandwitth limits or getting overcharges, take 10 seconds to get a different browser.
For years Ive been using FF addons that enable direct downloading from youtube, Im sure most other browsers have similar plugins available. Google should be careful when singling out just device while ignoring the rest. Also, why do they even care, Windows phones make up like 2% of the marketplace ?
It says they will discontinue selling tablets, so what does MS get from the deal ? The Nook brand name with no products ? Does not seem buying it to run a marketplace for a dead end tablet would make sense either.
My boss recently bought a 2012 Versa, rated 28/34 if I remember, he is actually getting 22 in the city and around 25 in the freeway and they are slow drivers. He can only get 210-220 miles on a tank, kind of sucks for a small car. On the other hand, I had a 98 subaru wagon, its only rated 18/24 on the new numbers, but I use to get around 30 and 31 a few times with mostly freeway driving, usually around 400 miles on a tank.
We bought a Nabi 2 tablet for our 8 year old as a replacement for a cheap low end and quickly broken tablet. I just assumed it worked with google play but didnt look into it before we bought it. Turns out it wont unless it's rooted, although you 'can' install it from an apk it wont work. They have their own app site they want you to rebuy all your apps from. That was kind of a pain since we already had bought a bunch of games and apps from google over the years. So I end up downloaded apk's from a pirate site, rather than pay again for apps I already own.
I recently (after they came out with the no contract ads) added a 3rd line to my account (an older phone I owned outright) and I still had to sign a damn 2 year contract on that line, even though I provided my own hardware. And their ads didnt tell the truth either, they said add another phone to your account for only $5 a month. It was actually $15 a month, for $5 a month the new line did not include the use of any data or texting services, current on my plan. You had to pay extra to be able to use your data you already paid for. Another lie, unlimited 4G data, it says in the contracts unlimited upto your plans GB rating, then your speed is reduced to 2G data speeds.

Im guessing that and the last post of collecting dust on a shelf are the most common uses.
