I generally agree with what black lives matters is trying to do but am not a fan of how they run their organization.
They often back people who were involved in police incidents without actually waiting for evidence to become available, then become entrenched and back them to the end in any case. In the original incident that spawned this group both civilian parties were acting badly, but in the end the person who shot was having his head smashed in on the curb or pavement with his assailant standing over him. In some actual cases the victim was the police who had to deal with a serious situation and were justified in action but this did not fit the narrative and much was made up to justify it. By backing these people they actually detract from the many legitimate cases of bad actors abusing authority that did lead to unnecessary violence. Media in general often runs pictures years out of date or shows selective clips to bias the reporting to maximize viewership, not even taking fake news into account. It is a serious problem; even just one bad person in a few thousand can ruin it for everyone through abuse of the system.
Also people associated with the group are often a me only rights group and throw other groups like Native Americans who have it just as bad, as well as others under the bus. I don't see enough inclusiveness
What's the volumetric energy density compared to lithium batteries or liquid hydrocarbons?
What's the storage price per unit of energy?
How easy is it to scale up production?
Is it dependent on rare or difficult to obtain materials?
These questions are the ones that *matter*. All else is detail.
The energy density is likely 40-70 times lower than lithium ion batteries in even the most optimistic sense. The power density may be ok to better than lithium ions for the few milliseconds it actually functions.
Just because you don't understand how it works doesn't mean it's instantly a "perpetual motion machine".
Do the math:
thrust = 1.2mN
power = 1kW
power = force * velocity
At what velocity does it go over unity?
I sincerely doubt it's creating energy from nothing.
Quite. It wculd if it worked. It doesn't work.
The paper does not state that the power to thrust ratio is constant at all speeds but simply that in the tests that were performed changing the power level changed the thrust in a linear manner. What if the cavity simply exhibits a force on dark matter? Understanding exactly how this works is going to be huge in revolutionizing physics if tests continue to verify the results.
Trump's history is full of contracts where he refuses to pay and unilaterally changes how much he'll pay after he gets the product. If this sounds familiar it's the same as what Darth Vader did with Lando Calrissian when he took Han Solo's carbomite-frozen body to Jabba the Hutt.
Trump glaring menacingly at liberals: "I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further."
Somewhat misleading summary. CO2 only increases growth substantially when nutrients and sunlight are also in abundant supply. It does not affect all plant life equally. So not all areas will see the benefit of increased growth.
Also as others have mentioned the mass of CO2 stored in plant mass is important but unless that mass keeps increasing quickly without dying out then it can't keep up with the supply. As it decomposes it is released back into the atmosphere.
Force all electoral delegates to vote with the constituents. Because it's beyond ridiculous that in most states they can vote how they want and not listen to anyone. I'd rather vote than cast a suggestion.
Look, I understand you all need to vent and the previous article was full of wailing and gnashing of teeth, but it's time to put on your big-boy pants and start acting like adults.
The election isn't about "getting your way", it's about "crowdsourcing a decision". The crowd chose not to go with Clinton, and there were a lot of votes in support of that decision. Deal with it, the rules were well defined from the beginning and you had plenty of time to prepare and build your case.
Technically Hillary won the popular vote. The large disparity in electoral votes is just more evidence of how the system is broken and how people don't get an equal vote for president. In fact in the vast majority of states electoral candidates aren't forced to vote with thier constituents, because in reality you don't vote for president, you cast a suggestion.
I'm not happy about the result but I'm going to make 2 predictions right now:
* The wall never gets built, I can't see congress aggreeing to fund it
* Trump comes around on climate change. I think he's smart enough to know that it's a real thing and he has young kids to think of.
Maybe I'm just a glass half full kind of guy.
Trump has rich kids. They can afford super yachts that will have such luxury it will be hard to remember the poor suffering masses.
Simple solution is to buy up all that new ocean front property before it becomes valuable. Doubly so when the climate turns mild further north along the east coast during winters. Though holdouts will likely just build up on stilts and try to stay, and south flordia will succeed and become the 51st state as New Venice in 2073.
Getting those people in the Southern Hemisphere to change thier winter to November through February. Its far easier for me to just keep calling July summer than them to change the meaning of summer winter autum and spring.
Lucky me I'm only hyper sensitive to the smell of any rotting food, and am most sensitive specifically to meats. I can tell if it's fresh, good, starting to go bad, will turn bad in a day, to the next level which is where most people start to smell something is off. I'm not so sure I can smell anything else that much better than others but I guess it's a useful thing to have though I can't smell salmonella or other food borne illnesses that I'm aware of just your average decomposition.
Would this produce any gravity waves that we can detect?
No this would not be possible with 2016 technology already built and running. It would produce extremely faint waves each time the black holes moved by each other. Likely this happened because this hole was significantly less massive than the other black hole and got a lucky slingshot style flyby when they came near much like spacecraft use today to increase thier speed.
Gravitational waves are so difficult to detect it is only in the final interaction where they are orbiting eachother many times a second very close together and pump more energy into a burst of gravity waves than the continuous luminous output of whole galaxies that we can detect today.
What always bugs me with price comparisons is that money automagically shows up on one side of the equation with no accounting. This often happens for everything from solar to home loans to any type of long term investment.
The real way to compare it isn't to say you spend 20k use up front, save 1k a year and in 20 years you break even, it's you alternatively invest the 20k you wouldn't spend in some investment vehicle at 5% which lets say compounds monthly. You better save over 54k in 20 years to break even.
I'm not bashing musks solar tiles, I think they are a neat (if somewhat old) idea that's finally going to be made. But to really calculate the cost benefit you need to be honest on both sides of the equal sign.
In the video there is a thick pillow/foam pad under each tile which greatly enhances impact resistance and yet won't be a part of any practical installation. They all failed including the tesla tile, though it looks like it might still provide some limited protection against water intrusion. The clay tile is a bit silly as you typically don't see many installations in heavy hail climates. Note that an asphalt tile, such as the majority of the United States is roofed with, would likely suffer little to no visible damage in this test and was omitted from it. Though after an impact like that the water repelling nature of an asphalt tile would likely be compromised.
It will also be interesting to know the minimum slope that these can be applied on, and how practical they are on roof surfaces facing the wrong way.
Que the home owners who buy this solar roofing and get it hail damaged then insurance companies won't replace it due to the increased cost. I doubt any insurance would cover it untill many lawsuits from outraged customers force changes.
At this point in time I'm pretty sure all my emails are in the hands of many entities besides my provider, all of which are thieves by definition. The NSA, foriegn governments, hackers, etc. In fact it's a safe bet that the majority of all emails ever sent are already stolen.
The last people I'm concerned about are CEOs and elected officials. I'm pretty tired of the back door dealings and making them viewable for all to see is not only making things more transparent it's making these people think twice about communicating thier corrupt and self dealing practices effectively restricting them and helping to shut it down.
It's pretty funny now as entities always have had this info and it was always used in closed door shady dealings. Now with the Information Age really under way it's kind of refreshing how all this goes public and makes them stew in their own juices. Finally the shoe is on the other foot with the whole "you have nothing to worry about if you have nothing to hide" meme.
It would be great if people who refused vaccines, yet transmitted one of those preventable diseases to a susceptible person, were prosecuted. Further if it resulted in death charge them with involuntary manslaughter.
While each device will likely be mostly autonomous it will still be necessary to have some kind of system to issue commands. Something with a good line of sight, where you could set up a network. Even better if this system could be a strong AI to help coordinate troops.
There was nothing wrong with the phones except the smart battery management was being hijacked by malware. Typically its hardware but often there is a bus and if it is possible to update the firmware remotely then it's a hacking dream to full on make phones explode.
The schedule I status needs to go. Certain chemicals in marijuana have shown themselves to be the best treatment for specific kinds of seizures, far better than anything currently available, to say nothing of the myriad of other uses. The evidence it has some medical value is insurmountable and being schedule I prevents much of the research that could be helping people while ensuring that grandma gets the full swat experience.
Getting a realistic categorization based on facts and not propaganda will help to pave the way for legalizing it on the federal level.

1) Markets are tanking. 2) News about how to immigrate to Canada floated from #5 to #3 on the Google "Top News" list.
At this rate, I'm glad I woke up. I'll go get my passport, pack my bags, get in line early to withdraw all my savings from the bank, and drive north.
Given the civil forfeiture laws and how friendly customs is, that's a sure fire way to flush your life savings down the toilet.

When he wins, President Trump will put a stop to this sea level rising nonsense. It was just a hoax, anyway.
Let me be the first to congratulate our new president.
Darn toot'n. He will build a wall and make the ocean pay for it.

It should read:
Us goverment finally sues Att/DirecTv, a typical TV provider company.
Further, the US goverment said: As soon as we pull our head fully outta our ass we will sue Comcast next.

It's like they don't know I don't have any real choices for cable or high speed internet and can't switch!
/sarcasm
