  1. Re:Why ARM7 anyway? on Ubuntu Ports To ARM · · Score: 1

ARM 7 is uses the ARMv4 architecture. What they are talking about is ARMv7 which is their newest architecture. Cortex-A8 and Cortex-M3 use the ARMv7 architecture and are some of the newest ARM processors out. I like their new processors, I use the Beagleboard [http://www.beagleboard.org] for my A8 stuff and I use Luminary Micro's chips for my M3 stuff. You should take a look at the beagleboard is pretty nice, I just wish the dev system was a little more user friendly, its a pain in the ass to compile angstrom.

Wow, I never thought I would RMS attack a charity even if it's is from Bill Gates. At least Bill is trying, it might not be perfect, but is trying to do some good. I understand that RMS wants to make software free to use and its source openly avaliable and is adamant about it, but after this blurb maybe he should take a backseat and let someone else take the lead in the fight for free software. I don't like reading and hearing this kind of rhetoric from people in his position.

You must not understand how enthusiast(mostly gamers) groups work, people like choice. I understand intel makes the best processors right now, but I tend to stick to AMD hardware because of cost. Sure Apple would be great for enterprise, but to enthusiasts there is no spice of life, its like having a goddamn beige box in a sporty looking tower at twice the price.

Only problem about mac is you cant have custom hardware like a PC. Unless Apple starts allowing their OS on custom built setups or also give the option to using AMD processors at their store, its stupid to switch.

Honestly I don't think flash will be the end all solution that will make us use solid state drives, really its just a stepping stone to drives that utilize phase-change or another type of NV memory that has no real write fatigue and higher density.
