Not trying to be smarmy or anything, but is there anyone out there who hasn't played this already?
I hadn't played it until today. The only computer games I really played until recently were Total Annihilation and Age of Empires II. I never really got into first person shooters and most of my gaming was done on a Playstation.
Left 4 Dead caught my eye so I downloaded steam to install the demo and found it to be a blast. I tried a few other demos on there and then noticed Half Life was only a dollar so I went for it. I'm happy I did.
Do you play TA mostly on LAN games or online? I've tried TA:Spring http://spring.clan-sy.com/ and I have to say I really like it but only one of my computers runs it smoothly. I play TA on LAN games but the group I play with has been getting smaller and smaller so I've been trying to find somewhere to play online.
I must be using it wrong too. I dual boot XP and Ubuntu on a 60GB hard drive. I've started filling it up, but that could be remedied by deleting the different Linux ISOs I left sitting on my documents partition.
That is a good point. The one way this could be cost effective is if you bought the necessary equipment and advertised that you did conversions. That way all of the home theater types would come to you, the fancy computer guy, and pay you to convert their HD-DVDs. I think the price of writable Blu Ray disks is still to high though.
but I mash all the ice cream I eat with my spoon first. Once I've mashed it enough that I can stir it a little then I will eat it. It's a bit of an OCD thing, but it has the added advantage of getting rid of ice crystals.
What kind of Wireless card do you have? The broadcom one in my laptop was a pain on Feisty and earlier but on Gutsy it was detected and drivers were downloaded automatically using the Restriced Drivers Manager. I haven't had a chane to see how it does with WPA encryption though because my router crapped out some time ago. It works on my neighbors unencrypted wireless just fine though.
"we don't let horses ride around on our streets with cars today, do we?"
Yes, actually, we do. Where I live it is not uncommon to see an amish buggy being pulled by a horse or two.
Annoyingly small these days is more like 500GB.

My friend does that actually. Not for paranoia reasons though, his hard drive quit and he has been running off a Knoppix CD for a while now.

I crashed it into a tree... sorry.
