I watched a video once showing how processors are made. Hard to believe the highly polished and uniform wafers start out as a giant glass turd. All kidding aside, the video also showed all the waste produced. And with silicon being worth a billion dollars an acre, a little bit of payback would be appreciated by chip manufacturers. I'm sure.
This might be a tad off topic, but I was just wondering what Apple is going to do for OS 11. I mean, Leopard and every other point release of OSX has had improvements. But nothing as ground-breaking or readily apparent as upgrading from OS 9.x to OS 10.x. In order for Jobs to out-do himself will he have to go on sabbatical and start from the ground-up again? Or will OS 11 just incorporate more little tweaks and features that users have to be told are there in order to notice? Or will it incorporate more superfluous stuff like the Beryl/Aero-like desktop switcheroo thingy?
Disclaimer: I don't watch or know the titles of any good NBC shows.
I had a look at hulu earlier. I was as impressed as everyone else. [Hits the snooze bar] Everything that was on there that I find interesting, I could just go to Fox on Demand to see along with other shows that weren't listed on Hulu.
I do like the concept behind it. It offers the benefit of legal viewing of TV shows and it alleviates the hassle of waiting an hour for something to download from bittorrent. Really, if they offered more shows (say... whole seasons and a better variety) I don't think I would ever leave the site. But who am I kidding? I couldn't break my addiction to/. that easily!
I would think my life would be in considerably more paral if I was streaking across the sky in a ball of plasma. While survivable, car hitting my car might be dangerous too.
I'm of the opinion that the drive system on this beast is probably over-engineered. It should resemble a Ford F-150 differential - loose tolerances, and designed to run for many millions of rotations without much maintenance. There's absolutely no need for the solar array to have precision pointing capability. I really do hope that the problem isn't due to over-engineering, but I wouldn't place a bet. Over engineering? Then we wouldn't be talking about an F-150. We would be talking about a Chevy Silverado or any other GM POS.
It's one thing to get the metal on metal thing going in your car and then be stranded alongside the road. But at least your life would be in no danger. It's quite another to get the metal on metal thing going and getting stranded in space. Tow trucks for space stations cost a considerable amount more. And the mechanics... don't get me started on the mechanic's wages.
I may be totally inept at this whole astronomy thing, but I am curious. If all or most galaxies have black holes at the center, where does the debris and dust and all the other stuff that makes a galaxy work come from? Obviously the black hole is pulling stuff toward it, but where does that stuff come from? And how did it get there?
Considering most of the things we eat are carbon-based and the composition of our farts... To some extent, yes. Drop the petroleum-based part and it is conceivable.
That's the problem with some greenies. They mean well, but not a whole lot of thought goes into solutions to greenhouse gas emissions.
1. Hybrids, while they do have electrical engines, also use fossil fuels to power the engine that charges the batteries to power it. They still have a carbon footprint. 2. While electrical cars have no emissions whatsoever, but the coal-burning plants that are used by much of the United States have a huge carbon footprint. Not to mention the high levels of radioactive emissions. 3. E85 vehicles get less MPG and still burn a fuel that has a carbon footprint. Not to mention the fuel is slightly more expensive than 89 Octane. (In Ohio at least.)
Hydrogen is just another one of those "warm and fuzzy" solutions that could be out there just to pacify the greenies. Until Gen IV nuclear reactors come online and make hydrogen production cleaner and more cost-effective, this hydrogen-powered vehicle thing will be nothing but a fad.
Oh yeah! I'm experiencing dupe-ja-vu!

What was that that just flew by me? Oh yeah! It was the vapor that is this article!

IMHO, the title should read something like "Intel's Stephen Fisher speaks" or something vague like TFA.
Then you would be right up there with Yoshiro Nakamatsu.
Not to mention the price per gig will be ridiculous. Why not just get a MyBook or something similar and say to hell with all of this vapor nonsense.
Who on earth would ever need more than a terabyte?

That sounds like grounds for a lawsuit. They subverted your update protocols in order to do what they wanted.
Queue the "Natalie Portman" + "Hot Grits" memes
Corn: saps nitrates like it's going out of style & fertilizer runoff. How insightful.

Should I restart AOL?

My IT guy response: the sun seems to be working fine on my end. Did someone unplug it on your end?
**Looks out the window** Yep! My tests verified their results.
What were the results of experiment #1? The curious public wants to know!
You must be new here. The titles are sensationalist all the time yet the articles rarely deliver 100% of what the title promises.
It seems like every day we get closer and closer to changing the name of the planet from Earth to "The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics"
Classic Mac Troll! You sir, made my day! You get a gold star!
