  1. Re:Not significant? on Security Flaw In Yahoo Mail Exposes Plaintext Authentication Info · · Score: 2, Insightful

I haven't looked carefully at the rest of the platforms that Yahoo provides, but I believe that at least Yahoo Messenger (when connecting with Pidgin anyway) also sends the same auth credentials in plain text. Not that the overall problem is insignificant (*any* time auth credentials are sent, in any context, they should be encrypted), but worrying only about IMAP is naive in this case. (What about POP? What about all the Y! web platforms?)

Yahoo! POP is SSL encrypted (and only available to pro acount users in any case). Part of the worry for me is Yahoo! doesn't disclose that the connection is unencrypted in the default program, and there is no way to get it to use encryption (the server doesn't even support encryption). As far as other Yahoo! properties I have no idea.

I guess the question to ask then, is how about GMail? Does anyone know if they are more secure? If so, then perhaps it'd be worth our time to convince some more people to switch for the sake of security.

gmail is more secure, it actually requires SSL to connect to the IMAP & POP servers (Yahoo! doesn't support SSL on its IMAP servers).

Distance education has the ability to potentially bring college level education to so many, I'm of the opinion that we should avoid placing restrictions on it and encourage it to evolve for the winsauce. education++

It would make sense for it to work with Tuyo mobile, although I haven't tested it. Looking at howardforums I vaguelly recall there being one or two MVNOs whos sims only work in there phones (I think Net10 & Tracfone but I'm not sure).

The phone actually has no camera, so the pictures were taken with a kodak digital camera. I'm not very good at takeing pictures I'll admit.

So blatantly I have no real need for a phone, why do they all have to be so gaddamn expensive? Its non-carrier subsidized and not produced at the same volumes as some other phones, hence it is a bit more expensive.

I can't afford much more than £5 a month for calls, will the open-ness and WIFI-ness of this phone allow me to say, use my internet (which I already pay for) to make phonecalls? (for free) Yes you can use VoIP if you so desire. If you only have £5 though, your money might be better spent on other things.

What's with the 2.5G? Did n't the Iphone get absolutely slammed for the lack of it, something that British (european) users apparently Have To Have? Given that this is a french phone and not a US thing, surely it would come with the usual standards. Its not french, its from a company called FIC which is in Taiwan. As far as I understand 3G is expensive. You might want to check out this thread on the openmoko mailing list for a bit more of the background.

Also, can I ssh into my computer and restart my webserver, motherfucker??? :) Yes you can.
