Abolishing something is so ridiculously hard to do to 100% that it's almost never an option, see prohibition or the current war on drugs in America that's been going on for 30 years to no perceivable effect. As for making everyone forget about it, well..... I can't say that it's never happened before (if it did we forgot about it) but I would have to think it's would be magnitudes more difficult than abolition. If you think nuclear power is that evil then how about a solution that has a reasonable chance at success, heck, I'd be willing to listen to one that even had a minuscule chance.
Spouting slogans and raving on about the evils of any topic incessantly just get you labeled a a bit of a nut and in the end is in no way productive.
In many ways it's superior to MS Office but it does have one great downfall and that is MS Office, more to the point the MS Office format. I've used both programs extensively for the last couple years and one thing that I've found is that if you modify a.doc file with Open Office and then pass it off to someone who's going to use MS there is a very good chance that the.doc will have some horrible formating issues. I know lot's of OOffice lovers (read as MS bashers) will tell you that it looks just fine when they open it up and have no problems but thats not the issue, if you if you go MS with that document thats when it's messed up and makes you look like a fool. If I'm going to build a PDF or make a document to be printed I'll use OOffice every time but I've been force to use MS Office most of the time just to keep my documents from getting mangled.
The only way to fix this would be to get MS to open up the.doc format (not going to happen) or to get the whole world to switch off MS Office (honestly think that opening up.doc would be easier). Yes yes I'm sure lots of MS bashers out there love that second option but with the entire US government and the vast majority of businesses everywhere locked on MS it's not going to change anytime soon and wishfully thinking isn't going to change it.
A stripper at a bachelor party is providing a erotic service that is not against the law.
If you go to Nevada you'll find that there are legal cat houses there "like from the HBO show Cat House".
Craigs List made a statement months ago when this all started saying that those adds would be on the site with or without the "erotic services" section and at least this way the only way you would see them is if you were looking for them. That section isn't about Craigs List partnering in prostitution or even saying that it's OK, just that it's a fact and that it's not really their job to put an end to it.
You forgot to mention the muscle cramps, caffeine is a diuretic and can lead to dehydration and dehydration can and will cause cramps. I used to wake up in the middle of the night with horrendous charley horses in the backs of my calf's. When I figured out that it was too much caffeine I spent a really bad few days to "get clean" and it fixed me right up. Have cut way down on my intake and haven't made that mistake again.
I doubt that you could really call the email Unsolicited since it was sent by a student to faculty members concerning a University matter.
Professors are given school email accounts and those email addresses are then given to students so they may "in a timely and convenient manner for both student and teacher" make contact with their teachers. Many teachers receive much of their homework assignments this way.
I'm not sure how people can claim this email was anything more than bulk.
Wow, The Vatican Says Alien Life is Plausible and that equates to "those people try to dial back the wheel of enlightenment a good 2000 years. Exactly how does that work?
And how about "is a recipie for murder, intolerance, close mindedness and backwardness." as an absolute triumph for empirical evidence? Point out a few random thing and say "see, I have facts on my side". The vast majority (read: as a very large percentage) of religious people have managed to not spend their live going to war to "murder", "slaughter" or "persecute" those people over there that don't believe in the same flavor of Deity.
Thirdly, "The 'theory' of god only begets more questions and answers none.". If you believe in evolution (as I do) and you believe that there is no "God" that may have nudged it in a different direction now and then (which I must admit I'm totally unsure of being agnostic) then maybe you can explain the the evolutionary advantage that was brought about by humans being able to appreciate great beauty such as a incredible sunset, a well done painting, Mozart, ect....
The idea of a higher power may not explain anything to you but like the man said "Your lack of imagination isn't my fault".
Believing in something is a faith, however not believing in something is a denial, not faith.
First I referred to "people who are so vehement about how god doesn't exist.", thats not people saying they don't believe and wander away bored. I was talking about people who get up in your face and tell you how stupid you must be to believe in a higher power. That's not just simple denial but something much more.
Second is if you look at scientific method you come up with a theory "God exists" then you try to disprove it. Not being able to prove it doesn't make it wrong, just unprovable. Just as not being able to disprove it doesn't makes it true. For the people that believe in something they can't prove that's faith and if you just don't happen to believe then that's lack of faith. When you start in with the absolute denial of something you can't disprove, well..... Thats back on the "Faith" side of things.
AS hard of a time as I have trying to believe in a all powerful being who cannot be proved, I have a much harder time not laughing at the people who are so vehement about how god doesn't exist. If you can't prove he exists then you certainly can't prove he doesn't exist. Doesn't that mean they have faith in him not existing? Come on now...... faith in a lack of existence, Thats Funny.
Could we have just a moment of clarity and really think about something before we run circles screaming "All Governments are EVIL!".
Complying with a legal governments request is hardly being someones bitch, not when someone is involving you with their crimes. Lets be real here, pedophiles saving their photos on a website involves the website. We can't reasonably expect all websites to be responsible for everything it's users post and upload for storage but the website is still being involved. If a friend of yours asks you to hold a bag for him and give it to someone else and that bag has a bomb in it he has involved you. Maybe you trust that friend and never peek in the bag and hence are innocent of any wrong doing, but if you do look in the bag I don't think anyone has any question as to what the right thing to do would be.
Is there really any question as to what the right thing to do about pedophiles?
While we are at it could someone please point out how chasing pedophiles in Brazil will cut in to my liberties here in the USA? Also please point out the "tyranny, totalitarianism".... lived here all my life and I keep looking for it when I hear people talking about how bad things are but never see it.
Maybe things could be bit better... but do you really have any idea how much worse it could be?
You are all missing half of the problem with this.
Organ banks and Hospitals all have procedures for harvesting good, clean organs that will be both viable and healthy. I'm thinking that the mortuary's and other organ thieves may not be quite so scrupulous about cleanliness and if the future new owner of the organ will be better off with something that was half dead when it was taken from the "Donor".
If I'm unfortunate enough to be in sudden need of some random organ I would very much like to have one that will do me some good and not a rotten hunk of flesh that someone carved out and sold for fun and profit.

Wow... All these High Def options and I'm still stuck with my Low Def Life
