There would be nothing wrong with DRM if it was fracking implemented properly.
But no. The MAFIAA vampires aren't happy just using it to stop piracy. They also use it to interfere with basic ownership rights, such as transferring from the CD to an iPod, or to your computer.
Hell we even had an article where they pretty much said "Who cares if the DRM auth servers go down? If they do, tough shit we don't care!".
DRM would be used even if there was no such thing as piracy. Piracy only gives the MAFIAA an excuse to rent-seek.
DRM is currently used only to rake in profits. Whether it does so by stopping piracy or by stopping people from legitimate uses, the problem is that the MAFIAA doesn't give a shit.
Also, it's been well proven that DRM doesn't work. Any moron can see that it only harms legitimate consumers, since the pirates just wait for one cracker to strip off the DRM. I think it speaks volumes that the MAFIAA still uses it knowing full well it doesn't work to prevent piracy.
We'd have plenty of room in the jails AND on the corrections budgets if we set our priorities straight and stopped locking up druggies.
We the people are quite justified in asking to have our cake and eat it too, because the chef wasted all the frosting making pretty sculptures instead of covering the cake.
Properly rationed our jails can hold plenty of people that NEED to be held.
Not directly no, but they let other people do that.
Spammers are in the business of supporting other crooks...the kind that are involved in 419 scams and sales of cheap and possibly counterfeit medications.
I do think that quite a few laws are wrong. Artificial scarcity is nothing less than unrestrained greed, and in due time I have full confidence in karma biting the hoarders in the ass.
That does not, however, excuse willful defiance of said law in the case where the consequences are a few dollars worth of product. What would really hurt the industry the most is a simple boycott.
Piracy is selfish "gimme gimme gimme", and besides only gives them a free call for the whaaaambulance. "Bawwwww I'm getting pirated bawwww bawwww profits are going down bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww".
Whereas if we just simply decided to give them the bird and not touch their stuff at all, they'd have to admit "nobody's buying our shit...and gawd even the PIRATES aren't touching it...I guess we just suck".
If indeed there is artificial scarcity, then bring down competition and anti-trust law on their asses. One big reason for the RIAA's oppressiveness is that they have nothing to lose by being bad-asses. Their customers don't have anywhere else to go. What do we call that again? A *monopoly*.
I would very much like to see the RIAA sued for anti-trust issues.
Resisting is more appropriate for heavyweight issues remeniscent of what provoked the Revolution.
YOu can bet they bankrupted him on purpose, taking a page out of the RIAA's playbook.
WHY THE FUCK WAS HE NOT APPOINTED A COURT LAWYER??!!!
The tooth fairy?
Utterly ridiculous.
Everyone knows that His Noodly Appendage is what really holds the universe together.
It could be that the UK is afraid of the big bad US for some reason.
I suspect that there's a bit of politics afoot.
Getting something for nothing is a bargain.
How do you suggest we do that?
"Our" congress critters are already bought and paid for.
We need to attack the root of the problem and push for lobbyist reform. Otherwise any move we make is just going to get bribed off the table.
So in other words, making new content is like drilling for oil?

I think it went for TAURinorum, as in Taurus.
No, but it does crowd out the active oxygen you normally require to stay conscious.
As an aside, why on earth you just made me your foe is beyond me.
Not to mention that it IS federal jurisdiction if you're doing business with the military.
Trying to simulate an analog system in a digital machine.
Internal Affairs?
Office of Inspector General?
The FBI?
And in the time it takes for a case to actually REACH the supreme court, irreparable damage will have already been done.

No, it's more aptly explained by "black criminals are more easy to notice thanks to racism, so they tend to get more heat"
To all the folks who say "If you don't like it, leave"
I ask this: "Where to?"
One could say that we should just settle down and be grateful that we don't have things worse.
One could also say that every country sucks so we're pretty much SOL.

No, that only goes to prove the point.
The only thing that one high ranking politician fears when he breaks the law is another high ranking politician making a stink about it.
If you're going to be abusing your position at least have the sense enough not to piss off your competition.
It could be that the process of cleansing is itself stressful to the skin when carried to excess.
Or it could be that the skin germs do a good job of "crowding out" the bad germs by hogging all the skin.
I have never heard of a post getting deleted.
The worst that ever happened was a post being censored due to a legal threat of the "censor it or we sue your asses off"
I notice how you said "refuses" instead of "fails"
Often times crooks have friends in high places.

I'd say anyone with that level of dedication to WoW has their priorities wrong.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go get some fresh air.
I've never taken a web browser itself to court before, though these days you'd never know what to expect.
