It's not a matter of learning something new. It's a matter of lost functionality. It's a matter of the additional time required to accomplish specific tasks. Management at Microsoft, as well as other companies (such as Dice), seem to gloss over functionality in favor of flash. The decision makers are no longer power users.
About three more updates and it may finally have as much functionality of Windows 7. The Microsoft line about Windows 8, "users will get used to it," doesn't exactly sounds like an upgrade.
Actually, you're wrong. Flying in a light plane is about as dangerous as riding a motorcycle. Check NTSB stats. And, as a pilot, I know several private pilots I would prefer not to ride with. Professional pilots do get a lot more training and should be safer.
I would upmod, but even though I have 15 mod points, it does not work. Slashdot is broken on Firefox, Chrome, and Android. Or maybe they just don't like my voting record.
>Windows 8 still sucks and is pointless, but with the addition of the new Update 1 it's a lot closer to what Windows 8 should have been in the first place.
Closer to Windows 7, in other words.
"There will be no banner ads on the Google homepage or web search results pages. There will not be crazy, flashy, graphical doodads flying and popping up all over the Google site. Ever." Marissa Mayer, December 2005
It's not the inaccuracy that matters, it's the completeness. I may write an article about my company and omit the fact that the FTC has fined me seventeen times for cheating customers. When a company PR hack writes a Wikipedia article, you can bet it will present the company in a move favorable light.
This is not limited to companies. Political parties hire people to write Wikipedia articles on even their most minor elected and appointed officials. While naturally unbiased and accurate, they consistently portray the person as a great and brilliant humanitarian and sage.
It's too slow!

I don't think I want to get into an unknown plane flown by an unknown pilot who needs to share the fuel bill.
Is IE still available?
No, those are all allowed.

It's already had a huge effect. Why bother to build a new company doing something cool when you'll only be sued for patent infringement?
People offshore don't have to deal with this anticompetitive environment, so that's where the enthusiasm is for new products and new business.
This is decades old news.
Computers or smartphones are not required. Be careful if you whistle a tune in public.
It's marketing. And it's excellent marketing. Plausible risk has little to do with it, but it makes me want to invest in the company.

I read on the internet that you can use an arc welder for this.
An exchange is a place to buy and sell bitcoins. Using an one as a bank is not so safe, but people do that too.
Mod up! (I have mod points but slashdot is broken again.)

If the NSA can bring down botnets, why don't they? Are spammers making political contributions?
Why is Fox News politics on Slashdot?

... Senator Feinstein has significantly less technological prowess than my cat, and has exhibited this on numerous occasions.
They should monitor politicians for corruption.
Is that some number between 0 and 1000, or could it also be negative?
I tried to mod up, but it won't work (even though I have 15 mod points). Slashdot seems as competent as MtGox.
