    Oh yeah. My uni's got a polymer research unit, and /all/ the scientists and GAs there are foreign. They're all from either Eastern Europe (generally the Balkans) or mainland China, I think. Not a single American except among the admin staff.

    The obvious solution is to re-implement all of our laws in Lojban, since that language is by nature non-ambiguous.

    The downside is, of course, that Joe Luser can't read Lojban, so we'll have to educate them early to grok it.

    Baen will also sometimes include a CD containing many E-books with certain hardbacks. It's made them some money from me, since I was introduced to certain series (1632, March Upcountry, Honor Harrington) via this.

    You know what I think is most exciting about John McCain? He hasn't kowtowed to the Jesus Crispies Ah, but he has, which was when I lost most of my respect for him (I'd liked him best in 2000). See this, for example.

    If the Mac version is any example, TrueCrypt now uses FUSE. That's not /completely/ independent of the kernel, but it's still rather more stable than having to recompile TC every time you build a new kernel.

    We did have some state representative from Lamar introduce a bill a couple years ago saying that IIRC the US is a Christian nation, but that was quickly voted down, and was generally held to be an election-year stunt.

    I left mine out in the sun for a few hours, and when I picked it back up there were many missing horizontal lines in the display. The rest worked OK, though.
