I have to worry about stability and security at work, so I plan to wait for SP1 to preinstall or upgrade to Vista. There's nothing compelling enough in Vista to switch right away, or even in six months. File versioning and low-privilege processes would be very nice, but we've made it so far without them.
I wonder if Acer will stop using FAT32 as their default filesystem with Vista. As of at least a few months back, new WinXP machines (at least laptops) still came with FAT32 and not NTFS.
It's sort of like Mutually Assured Destruction. Random fool can start shooting, but knows he will most likely be shot down where he stands by the others. I'd rather have that than the government having a monopoly on deadly force.
That is indeed Daley's style. Another example is what he did to close Meigs Field, famous as the starting point in older versions of MS Flight Simulator. He'd been wanting for years to close it and make it into a park, but was being held up in the courts.
So one night without court authorization he sends in his thugs to bulldoze the runway, while aircraft were still parked. Most of the planes were allowed to take off later from the long taxiway. It's now a park, just as this giant ego wanted.
The difference is that the cameras are always there and record everything they see. Cops move around a bit and don't have perfect recall that can be consulted years later.
It's because the UK has strict gun control. If ill-mannered chavs (or MPs!) were regularly shot or lynched, your problems would soon disappear. You could even use the Texas Defense: "He needed killin'."
.us public defenders tend to be overworked and can't devote much time to individual cases. There's also the perception that public defenders aren't as good as private lawyers, but I can't say if that's true or not.
Taxes are a reason not to incorporate, at least in my state. A former boss incorporated for self-protection and the need to pay taxes quarterly nearly drove him under, since the computer-repair business can be rather seasonal.
The Greek word translated as "sin" is "hamartia", which means missing the point.
I've seen it translated as "missing the mark", an archery term, which I took to mean fucking up like an ordinary human would because we're not perfect.
Updates there are slow. That site still had J5r6 until recently and never posted 7 or 8. That may be where the Java auto-updater pulls from because many of our machines stuck with r6 until r9 came out.
Never mind that it was disproven during the Second World War, since 'round-the-clock strategic bombing certainly didn't make the German populace rise up against Hitler (or Londoners rise up against Churchill during the Blitz). From my grandfather's personal experience as a POW, it made the civilians hate Allied airmen.
Oh please Ghu, that would be hilarious.
OTOH, they've done that gag with a televangelist in San Andreas.
Why aren't there any clean-running 2-cycle gasoline engines in service, then?
Nitpick: batteries degrade after time.

Can you give a link to one of those?

Seriously, WTF?
Get a rope! ;-)

On one hand, there's no guarantee that what people do on their own time affects what they do at work.
On the other hand, what kind of utter fucking moron would do a thing like that? FFS, set up a separate page you give to potential employers.

So why is the birthrate increasing among all the religious nutters then?
I kid, I kid.
And a good thing, because that title would have embarrassed the proofreader something fierce.

I don't think it's worth it to run XP64 yet unless you have a needed 64-bit app. Driver support still isn't great, mainly.

I'm not Christian myself.
I suspect it's also the .us "thing" with sex in general. Violence is bad, but sex is MUCH MUCH WORSE.
Not to defend the untermensch who molest kids, but still.
I'd be surprised if we did have something like that here. Our politicians like to be Tough on Crime, after all.
Plex86 is no longer a going concern.
