    One of the initrd coders didn't want to go to court himself, so he transferred his copyright to Welte. That's the same thing as many free software programmers signing over their copyrights to the FSF - nothing SCO-like about it.

    DHTML is very well-documented. For one, there's the ECMAScript specification (a standard), then there's HTML 4 / XHTML 1.1 standards with standardized DOMs, and there's a standardized CSS2. The interface are all quite clearly defined.

    The only thing that's lacking is enough browsers with good enough standards support - and that is why IE must get better or go away.

    Not public domain! If the GPL is seen as invalid, then normal copyright still applies, so people would not have a license to use the code.

    Have a look at what EXIF data your camera provides and try jhead. It even has a batch-rename-by-capture-time option.

    Your files already have metadata associated with them, any transfer software or even any file manager should be able to mass-rename your files by date stamp. Of course, you might just as well use the file's date entry.

    The [some string]_[number].[format] format is a standard, by the way. That's also the reason cameras have a directory name like DCIM on the medium, and the reason things like PTP or PictBridge work.

    Flash Exposure Compensation,
    ISO3200 (although it tends to get noisy),
    small, low-quality embedded JPEG (to save space).

    I believe that should be possible with shell scripts alone. You can control pitch and duration of the pc speaker from the shell.

    Actually, if you just enter an .XPI URL in the location bar, i.e. don't get there by clicking a link, Firefox will pop up the Installation dialog, no matter if the site is whitelisted or not.
