    Vivaldi still isn't as useful, nor customizable as Opera 6. Though we might have to say Opera 9/10 if we include the horrid tab-stack implementation.

    If you've ordered something previously, Amazon's Alexa will offer up that item, or a list of matching previously ordered items.

    Have you ever dealt with the post office in person? I had to go pick up a package that was supposed to be delivered to the door and signed for. After waiting in line for 20+ minutes, verifying my ID, I had to write with a "touch pen" on a "touch screen" My full name, then address, then you have to wait while the human on the other side, looks at the crappily written on a touch screen, back to the name address, back to the screen back to the typed address.

    Or attempted to resolve a problem over the phone? Set aside a few hours. Then wait a week or more for the "investigation".

    Those examples describe pretty much every US Postal "process", time intensive, pointless dreck.

    You should take a look at Sidewise, it does everything that Tabs Outliner does without the gawd-awful interface.

    And unlike Tabs Outliner, you can actually select multiple tabs in Sidewise.

    Since Mozilla cancelled Aurora (FF Developer Edition), I've been using the "Mozilla Developer Preview", which self-identifies as Nightly, but appears to be a version behind (54). With Nightly 55, almost all extensions are listed as "Legacy" and most of their icons are removed from the interface. So things aren't looking very bright now.

    Well there's the Moto X Force (aka Droid Turbo 2) for only $229 now, which can be manually flashed to Android 7.

    Xiaomi already has that price point sewn up, mostly hexa-core though.

  15. I had thought that LAME didn't use Fraunhofer's codec, even so that doesn't prevent infringing on IISFS' patents.

    Like all MP3 encoders, LAME implements some technology covered by patents owned by the Fraunhofer Society and other entities.[3] The developers of LAME do not themselves license the technology described by these patents. Distributing compiled binaries of LAME, its libraries, or programs that derive from LAME in countries that recognize those patents may be patent infringing. Since April 23, 2017 all of these patents have expired.

    Who cares about Fraunhofer's MP3? We've had LAME since 1998, and Ogg Vorbis since 2000. LAME's VBR (Variable Bit Rate) is better than even AAC, let alone Fraunhofer's crap licensing. And we can't forget FLAC and WavPack.

    If ISP's are allowed to sell your data, the government no longer has to go through legal channels for warrants -- they can just "buy" what they want.

  18. Except part of the problem is similar to the issue that enabled the gMail/OAuth hack -- the information that you need to make an informed decision is hidden or not available at all. And that issue keeps getting worse as the phone-interface gets minimized and simplified ad-nauseum.

    Further, Android wont even allow you to know who the Author|Dev of a given app is. We are allowed to know the "version" - bonus.

    Yes, Uber are claiming that the "privilege log" of the Otto acquisition is itself privileged as it contains lawyer correspondence. If that isn't knocked down by Alsup it will allow pretty much every corporation to decline to produce privilege logs for investigation of malfeasance.

    Given the direction Microsoft has gone since Windows 7, one can't help but look at alternatives. Yet the problem I have with Mac (beyond basic price) is the editing paradigm. Apple says that, "Insert/Backspace", "Home/End", and "PgUp/PgDn" along with a handful of other 'standard' keys don't exist, and cannot have equivalent key-bindings. Using MacOS is nothing short of constant frustration.

    Lots of phones appear to work on Project-Fi, but they likely aren't fully compatible.
    They may not switch to WiFi when the cell signal is poor, or switch between mobile carrier signals, as well text-messages can have odd (longer-than-the-message) hash-sum-like values appended to them -- for no apparent reason.
