Doesn't work under Linux nor Windows nor a Mac (emulator) tried and confirmed. You can easily read those .vob's off a Region 0 disc, of which I have a couple from the National Film Board of Canada. Matter of fact the cartoon guy playing scrabble on the homepage is on one of the discs... and so is The Cat Came Back, my personal favourite.

I really hope this "technology" doesn't make it into hard drives... or I'll be stocking up on some before the old ones go away, or wait 'till it's cracked.

Well I did a couple searches on some key phrases in your post with google and altavista and got no matches...

...so I read it all. I agree with some of the basic priciples of what you say, however, I think you are anthromorphising too much. An AI wouldn't have the same environment us humans do... it wouldn't necessarily even have "feelings" the same way, if any. Emotion is something we know exists in intelligent mammals, AI's will be something quite unique.

I think the merging of silicon and flesh is on the not to far horizon... say 20yrs'ish. Medical science is on so many interesting thresholds and exploring so many new ideas. No, I don't have links, sorry. :(

Change is good, if you look at where the human race was about 100 years ago, then look where we got in 50yrs... then compare that 50 to the next and imagine what 25 years from now will be like.

I think some sci-fi will be becoming sience-fact!

    Kind Regards,

I'm using my 1600SW with the nVIDIA GeForce2 chipset. The card, a 3D Prophet II 64mb, has a digital out, but it only works in three modes. However, the MultiLink does a great job of converting the signal... pure digital is better tho.

I can do nothing more then give my approval for an 1600SW. And if you get an nVIDIA card just change all the 1600x900 entries in the .inf file with 1600x1024. Works great, even in DirextX games!

Actually the memory sticks are white and use the "MagicGATE" technology (SDMI). I purchaced the memory stick walkman and promptly returned it within about two days due to seriously crappy music management software and just general crappiness of the system. For some reason thier VAIO MusicClip with inbuilt 64mb ram can play MP3's and Sony's ATRAC3 format (once wrapped in SDMI compliance that is). However, the MS Walkman only accepts ATRAC3 so you have to convert your MP3s to this format and thus loose a bit of quality. Overall I was very dissapointed with the software used to implement SDMI, the MS Walkman itself ROCKED, if only it would of played raw MP3's :o(
