  1. Re:Nothing Surprising on 10 Years of Translated Bin Laden Messages Leaked · · Score: 2, Insightful

I would have been worried if Turkey landed on Bin Laden's side, but they have been working for a long time to be seen as a independent, democratic nation worthy of joining the European Union. It's doubtful that they would have come to Afghanistan's aid, even if other countries did.

That's just ignorance of Turkish politics or you name dropping. Turkey may have a Muslim majority, but you won't be seeing them Jihad(due to a strongly secular constitution) and their relationship with the United States is very strong.

I'm all for rehabilitation, but if you "rehabilitate" someone and they end up on the streets and do something horrible doesn't that put the blood on your hands at that point? That is why I consider rehabilitation of dangerous offenders, such as murderers and rapists, to be dangerous optimism in some cases.

I do have one objection, while I hate Wal-mart for other reasons they actually pay good wages for the work(I've worked for them out of desperation for temporary work and got 9.90 an hour starting and well above minimum wage.)

Regardless, railing against trade is just silly and misinformed, there's a reason we've been doing it for so damn long, and in general it is mutually benefiting.

The idiocy espoused here is based entirely on the toxic combination of ideas that social and economic issues go hand in hand and blind political partisanship.

Tax systems do not decide how a government censors it's people and liberty isn't the freedom to create a tyranny of the majority or a tyranny of the rich.

Of course it is not as if I plan on actually addressing the rhetoric copy and pasted into this post, the poster has already chosen his "team" and is sure that it is the true path to a wonderful life.

I'm not categorizing anybody based on race, quite frankly that's what I'm trying to tell you is the problem. Skin color means jack shit, its where you grow up and that's how you should tackle the problem. Previous racism is what aggregated people into the projects and all the other low income places. Most folks should be treated based on their situation and the culture of the place that they live.

If racism is rampant in that culture as you suggest(white racism) that is something that should be dealt with.Of course, I can only speak from my own experiences and never heard anyone being called Oreo except on fresh prince.

As I said before, trying to solve a problem that was created in the past by racism, with more racism is pure idiocy at its best.
